TIE is considered something of classic though, and the Metaluna Mutant creature was actually really well done for the time. But yeah, I really like that poster though. Mondo has definitely been releasing some lousy posters lately, but this one is really nice.

The Mutant was kind of weird because the upper half was all done but then when they got to the legs they just kind of cheaped out. You can actually see it there in the poster.

The mutant wasn't the only interesting character design... At times that movie is like a science fiction "Police Squad."

Lobok posted:Today I learned that "durst" was a real word. It's a remnant of the old Germanic past tense. Today everyone just says "dares". I'm checking the OED online right now to confirm this, and apparently the article hasn't been updated since 1894, and still lists durst as the majorly used past tense. Also, there are cognates with Greek, Old Church Slavonic, and "Aryan". The Durst we are all thinking of comes from German directly. It means "thirst".

The difference between that Mondo and their poo poo ones is that the This Island Earth poster is making good use of colour.

This is one of the few Mono posters I like. It works simply because they use more than two colours and so the elements in the poster don't blend into one blob like many of the others do.

I get the feeling that Mondo have an created a release schedule that they're trying to meet that's really hurting their "credibility" if not their bottom line (they must make mad coin). If they only put out the truly special works like this, the low run numbers and crazy after market would be more understandable. I'll always defend good Mondo posters when they pop up and this one is loving sick. Lizard Combatant fucked around with this message at 15:48 on Sep 19, 2013 |

Eh, I get that they want to create limited run art-pieces (not that I think they should mind you) and the after-market is an inevitable side effect, but churning out lazy crap kind of undermines that anyway. But yeah, I think a limited window for pre-orders (with a 1 per customer limit) would be a fantastic idea.

I saw this a while ago. Nothing about it is vibrant or psychedelic, so I'm not sure why it needs the beaming red beard and dump of yellow. I'd just keep it blue. It's a pretty sombre thing. A full body shot of this guy in a dirty shirt and sweat pants holding a gun would work pretty well. Sorta like this Taxi Driver poster. He even has a particular car you could swap in. Actually, I wonder if selling it as beardy hobo man the movie might not get people disappointing when he spends the vast majority of the film clean cut Teenage Fansub fucked around with this message at 11:38 on Sep 21, 2013 |

Bringing both Bill Paxton and Bill Pullman together in the same movie that I never actually bothered to watch.
