I almost forgot to post this... Last month was the NASCAR finale at Homestead Miami Speedway. Ford Racing wanted to show off the new Shelby Cobras and the 660hp they bring. So the track gives them my friend's number to help Ford put something together. And me, being friends with people in low places, got to join along.... Nice. I used to live about 6 blocks from John Walker's up there on Phinney (I assume that's where that photo was taken). It was always great walking by to see what was parked outside. Love that generation (or any of them, really) of 911, but they used to have all kinds of great stuff parked there too.

A film I art directed last year has just come out. Watching it and it turns out that the Escort Cosworth we hired as set dressing made the cut: But the MP4-12C didn't! Also nor did a Sierra Cosworth and an old Escort RS2000, but a WRX did. I didn't get to choose where they were parked or they would have done :|

I was in the US earlier this year and just now over the holidays had some time to go over the photos. Most of these don't have much artistic merit, or are particularly exciting to Americans, but it was fun finally seeing some of the cars we don't get in Europe in person. Surprisingly, not nearly as many Ferraris and other exotics as I'd expect in these places. Lincoln Versailles Model S No Idea Ford Fairlane 500 1957–1959 Oldsmobile Mazda RX-2, post facelift Pontiac Catalina 71-73 Ford Mustang Cadillac Fleetwood Fuckin' Space Shuttle Camero, duh. Jeep Grand Wagoneer, apparently from the nineties Triumph Spitfire Mk3 F-body Trans Am Feel free to correct any of my labels, as they are often just guesses.

I hope you enjoyed your visit to the United States. I think it's a great country and you could spend your life exploring it. The Wagoneer was made until '91. The car is the one that one of the gangs in GTA3 uses (Sabre). (I think it's an Oldsmobile Cutlass). It's good to see an Rx-2 in good shape in NY.

They made these until 91 (they were the very last domestic carbureted vehicle on the market) and replaced them with the ZJ chassis grand cherokee in 93. They look a lot better with the "rhino" grille: There are around a dozen grilles you can choose from that were all OEM on that chassis at one point or another.

Here's one I missed, a clean Fox body Mustang. Also my cousin's husband had a hot-rodded Monte Carlo (I think... I'll ask him for some details) but sadly it was unregistered and hidden in the garage under a pile of crap so I didn't get to ride in it or even get a decent photo. The only place I've been in the US where I saw them on a regular basis was Buckhead, Atlanta. One of the wealthiest zip codes in the US. I literally saw two Lambos, a Ferrari, and a Bentley all pull up to a 4-way stop at the same time. It was like an alternate universe. My hotel overlooked that intersection and it was a constant parade of high-rent cars going by. Maybe there was a convention in town or something but I stayed there more than once and saw it a lot. I also find it interesting that foreigners take pics of our land yachts when they are here while I take pics of the Kei Cars when I'm in Japan. What is different and exotic to one person is boring and every day to someone else.
