Do you find something comical about my appearance when I'm driving my automobile?
I forget what episode it is in, but one of the specials starts off with some people saying "Where's Arino" as a scripted gag.

Except I guess the one AD forgot they were filming, because he pointed to the whiteboard Arino was hiding behind and said "He's right here." Thus ruining what would have been a wonderful gag with an even better one.

And of course it was Nakayama.

Even Abe was in on the joke. Nakayama is unintentionally hilarious, I wonder if anything in his life has ever not been awkward and stilted as hell.

That's one of the best segments in the show. Arino must have a field day when he can bounce his comedy off such conflicting personalities. Takeda is so stuck-up and Nakayama awkward as ever. Add Toujima and Kibe and it's great entertainment.

By the way, thanks to the thread for helping me improve as a translator! I've grown a lot from working on these releases and the suggestions I've received. Last year, I entered an international manga translation contest (J to E) and I was one of the finalists, but didn't win. I entered again this year, and I won for my title! Which means I get a tablet PC and, uh...credibility??

With all these best GCCX moments, how did nobody mention this?

I know this was from that YouTube video from the LA meet-up when Arino and the staff got zari's poster, and wasn't officially shown on the episode itself, but I think it still counts.

Plus, it's one of the few times we see two rare sights... Abe surprised and Kan smiling.

I submitted translations for all the titles, since there's no limit to the number of entries. Acchi Kocchi was a neat challenge; translating 4-panel gag comics is tough. My experience translating so many jokes in GCCX came in handy.

By the by, something I've often wondered is how much the show is scripted. The foreword, obviously. But I'd assume once Arino plays the game, it's all real? The AD interruptions and/or guest appearances have to have some sort of plan what they will do, but are they heavily scripted as well?

I suspect that they're pre-written but Arino has a tendency to go off-script. Watch the AD's as they come in, move through their lines, then Arino says something goofy and they're completely lost.

One Nation, Under God.
New GCCX3 game reveals:

Blood of Dragon! Final Fantasy-style RPG, featuring an ATB-esque battle system and job switching.

Korokoro Game! Another non-video arcade game; tilt the 3DS to guide the ball to the goal, avoiding holes along the way. Four courses in all.

That makes 14 games announced so far, and there's another "coming soon" slot on the website, so that's at least 15 games guaranteed.

Sorry if this is off topic, but where does Yoiko fit in on the spectrum of Japanese comedy? I'm a huge fan of Vs. Arashi & Gamecenter CX and always wondered where the disconnect is. I see many comedy duo's/teams on Vs. Arashi, but am always left wishing for Yoiko or just Arino to show up. Are they just in a different league or maybe someday it will happen?

Arino has been in the assembled comedians on LINCOLN, hosted by Downtown. Not sure if Hamaguchi was there and I've never seen either of Yoiko in a Batsu game.

I know nothing really of Japanese comedy and who is the most famous comedy duos but I would hazard a guess that if Downtown are top level, associating with them closely makes you close to top level and being on shows they're on sometimes makes you notable, but not exactly huge.

It might just be that Yoiko are too busy to show up much though.

Basically, Downtown own. :allears:

If the documentary is any indications it's not that they were the first to make it big, but the first to stay on top for so long. They keep changing it up and doing new things to keep them relevant at leas that's again what was said in the documentary.

So could someone name an American celebrity who is roughly as famous in the US as Arino is in Japan?
