Cyberventurer posted:Mine was acting up badly too. Do you have a tiny switch on the back of your controller that you can flip? When I did that, then unplugged and plugged the cord back in, the controller inputs (mostly) went back to how they work in Dark Souls 1. There is a switch for toggling d-pad/analog sticks on off for some reason, but no, it just doesn't do a drat thing at all. This also happened with Metal Gear Rising, so I'm just assuming that the controller isn't compatible with these games, which is strange since it's just a fairly simple input device.

Something to keep in mind people getting frustrated is this game is way less linear than DS1. It's not even sequence breaking like could happen with the Master Key in DS1 its just pretty open. I didn't realize that I kinda picked a stupid path my first time through unlocking useful resources like the second blacksmith pretty much as late as you possibly can. There is also plenty of optional content you can get stuck on that would be easier if you moved on and came back with better equipment. Upgrading your weapon is king.

If only frustrating because I had to widdle him down with a dagger. Pursuer on the other hand was a good step up. I was getting my poo poo wrecked because I'm over reliant on those DS1 invincibility frames in the dodge-roll. Finally got him though, had to switch to using a mace. There's a dude who is chickening out in front of a gate right after the crossbow ambush room (you know the one) and he'll give you a soapstone after you escape. There's also this smaller soapstone that I have no idea how it works that I got afterwards from somewhere.

Well to be more positive, I just beat what I assume is the first boss you're supposed to fight. I loved the design of that thing. Pretty freaky when it tore off its own arm to try and beat me to death with it. Only took one try but that's probably because I had a bunch of "practice" against the stone soldiers in that area you're not supppsed to go too first. nftyw posted:There's a dude who is chickening out in front of a gate right after the crossbow ambush room (you know the one) and he'll give you a soapstone after you escape. Pretty funny to get stepped on and then have the boss just fall over Also he had a cool spear I wanted to use. Didn't think the stats would be so high for it though.

Put it down, and then go explore. You'll get summoned to follow a dude around for about five minutes and kill poo poo. You get the full soul rewards of all enemies who died, the ability to pick up enemy drops (if you get any, they seem to be instanced too so no worries about loot ninjas) and when you pop back you get all the rewards of a bonfire rest without enemies respawning (great for exploring) AND your humanity restored AND a smooth and shiny stone. So I've got some sort of seriously hosed up control bullshit going on - I started a cleric, and got to the second little fogged out area just past the hut - with the tree you push down, then the archer, then the hole you jump down. However, whenever I push down the tree and run towards the archer, no matter how many times i tap left click, my character won't attack at all until a good 4-5 seconds have passed. I can kill the archer despite this, but when I jump down my character's complete refusal to attack even if I stand completely still and tap left click makes me incapable of killing him. The weird poo poo is if I try this on the pathway leading up the area, my character attacks immediately, every single time - I've got full stamina in combat too, so it's not that. It's like the presence of a monster makes me unable to attack properly. This is getting.. extremely frustrating - I've died at least 15 times to this one single guy with a knife and haven't been able to melee even once - not even a miss.

But it's a serious pain in the rear end, and I wish they'd bring back the bonfire levelling from DaS1.
