...of SCIENCE! posted:Shaq-Fu 2 was an indie company that bought the Shaq-Fu rights and Mighty No 9 was a new company. If Capcom had been running a Kickstarter for a new Megaman game as a way of gauging interest I'm pretty sure people would be making fun of them too. Mighty NO. 9 is Comcept but also Inti Creates who are an established company who have created or worked on many projects to date. That is what Comcept does, they pair with other companies and by the time of the M#9 kickstarter they were already working on Soul Sacrifice for Sony and Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z for Tecmo-Koei (also paired with other companies.) Is there really that big a demand for CRAFTING CRAFTING CRAFTING? What kind of loser plays a game where you can be a badass warrior or something and decides he'd rather be the blacksmith?

Most MMOs have crafting systems in it, and a lot of what you craft are things what make you kill other things better and/or things that can get you in-game money to get the things that kill stuff better.

PostNouveau posted:What kind of loser plays a game where you can be a badass warrior or something and decides he'd rather be the blacksmith? No kidding, a lot of people actually like Star Wars Galaxies because you can play a cantina dancer or a weaponsmith. A cantina dancer can just /dance in a cantina and can make more money faster than a bounty hunter. When they introduced vehicles in an expansion, some people chose to get paid ferrying other players into quest zones or run a safari service instead of dogfighting in space. Although to be fair, the game actually supports this; it has no NPC weapon stores if I remember right.

I just can't hate on the Jane Austen MMO because it's a completely original idea, even if it's probably not a great idea. It's a complete breath of fresh air to see a crowdfunded MMO that isn't WHAT IF WOW WAS ALSO MINECRAFT.
