When you say on credit do you mean using a card or actually taking out a line of credit specifically to buy a laptop?

I mean the CanEx itself has an in store credit plan for any member of the CF that has 0% interest

I don't have any good BX stories aside from the time I saw some mid 40's Army dude who used to be an E9 or some poo poo rockin' E2 after his DUI carefully examining the back label of the shampoo bottle with his impressively piggish wife. I do have a good story about why you shouldn't do hard drugs though. Years and years ago a bunch of guys from my career field at Travis were splitting a house that very quickly became known for being the epicenter of a lot of shady poo poo. Leadership knew all these guys were dirt bags and knew that all of them living together was bad news but couldn't do anything about it since it was off base and they were all SSgt. Well one night they're having a party or something and one of them is half passed out drunk so the sketchiest dude out of the group goes over to the guy and he doesn't draw on him with a sharpie or shave an eyebrow oh no he straight up jabs the dude with a needle full of heroine and slams the plunger. Dude gets taken into the hospital with a heroine overdose and since he's obviously hot they test the rest and they all popped for something. Dude who OD'd the other guy testifies against the rest and gets a general discharge while the rest go to some jail at Vandenberg. The NCO's would have to drive up and bring their E1 asses to do bitch work and order them to stand their while having us students make fun of them. Dude who got OD'd had some chief dad and wanted to stay in so I guess he went to some boot camp redo poo poo. Cenen fucked around with this message at 06:07 on Jun 7, 2014 |

All the car talk reminded me of a chick who was in my aircrew class. Shows up one day in a brand new Mitsubishi Eclipse Spider. I'm asking her about it in the smoke pit, only 24% apr! What a bargain. She ended up getting knocked up and kicked out for something. memories.

He was getting out and I'm assuming he thought he had a job lined up. We heard he eventually had it voluntarily repoed. He currently rents a house from a guy that used to be in our shop who is currently in Germany. He lives in the house with like three other families.

I'm an idiot, I let my new wife handle getting a car, as I'd never actually bought anything from a car lot before. 24% interest on a three year old car. Paid that fucker off, it did help my credit at least. Since I drove an old-rear end truck, the payments didn't really hurt, so I chalked it up as a learning experience.

When I went with my girlfriend to help her buy her car she got all pissed at me for "hassling and being rude to the salesman". So she went on her own, is paying more money because it's a 7 year loan, financed a useless maintainence package onto the cost of the car, and some other retarded options. Tbf her interest rate is fine, something like 3%, but the extra two years and options did add to what she will pay overall.

It's pretty funny how the only things we still haggle for in our culture - salary, cars, and houses - are by far the most costly things to get hosed over on, and in all cases you are going up against some of the only people in our culture who haggle and negotiate prices daily. I'm not saying I want to have a one hour conversation every time I buy onions, but man it would make me better at negotiating salaries.

I know of a couple of people that bought those leather jackets and even one who bought a graduation ring. They also sold Affliction-style AF themed shirts. lmfao, basic training rings! Man people paid HUNDREDS for those when I went through. In fact, we had some "Ex Army so we know what you want" people come in with a whole catalog that we were forced to listen to give a spiel about buying rings, and sweatshirts, and jackets, etc. "You can wear the ring at your unit, 670-1 says so!"

I've said it before but, my tech school roommate bought a graduation ring, it wasn't sized right and he was wearing it on his middle finger. He was going to buy the jacket but didn't have enough money, he still had the order form. During pre-deployment training in Wisconsin, my 1LT turns his loaded 9mm toward me, standing at the firing lane beside him on the range. Needless to say, I no longer felt safe being led by such a 'tard. While riding in a convoy, he kept complaining about being bored and wanting to be on the HMMV turret, like a child, so we obliged. While he was up there, I stole the firing pin from his M16. When his weapon wouldn't fire during qual, completely dumbfounded, he took some heat from the cadre inspecting his weapon. It was a big deal. As soon as we got back from the range, there was outrage. I immediately and loudly confessed, holding it above my head rather ballsy, with witnesses to the 9mm incident. I was surprised and disappointed that neither of us were demoted. Army, hooah?
