From wikipedia: quote:Historically, the name refers to the Bavarian Illuminati, an Enlightenment-era secret society founded on May 1, 1776. The society's goals were to oppose superstition, prejudice, religious influence over public life and abuses of state power, and to support women's education and gender equality. Where can I sign up? Because if there's anyone controlling the world, these guys seem to be one of the least worst options.

Who is so hard up for attention/stress/something to do that they just make poo poo up to force themselves into a category so they can "be oppressed"? I thought being oppressed was supposed to suck

I think it's more common than not to have a few songs that can make you feel sad, usually drawing from some association with the song. Sad or melancholy music can often be therapeutic for people with depression, though.

They didn't repost fast enough and lost their apostrophe and "E" My mom hasn't shared that one, but she shares those kinds of posts every now and then. Oh, and also sends me stupid chain emails. I guess she thinks it's fun? Tony Phillips posted:But they gained an extra 'o' in lose. Fair trade. They only got an 'o' in trade. Flickr has always been a big supporter of Pride day/week/month. This weekend they've decided to test out a new feature - anyone who uses the tag "Pride" on a photo will be auto-added to their official Pride group, along with the photo (they have employees to go through and make sure the photos are relevant, since there is the occasional chance that a photo might not be LGBT related). A Flickr message and e-mail are sent, and anyone added can of course take a second to remove themselves. I personally think it's a really cool idea, given the number of people celebrating it and wanting to share their photos. Of course, there's always a few who have to get pissed about things. Of the 564 members and 4700 photos that have been added since the group's creation on the 20th, 3 have complained, with one of those making a quick comment and then vanishing. Pretty sure a success rate of 99.468% is pretty good.

She's posted poo poo like this before. I'm pretty sure if eating more tuna/chicken/turkey (quick googling says they're high in Niacin) cured depression people would have figured it out by now. I'm pretty sure suicide rates would drop after holidays and someone would notice that.

When my depression was at its worst before I was diagnosed and treated(with, shock and horror, anti-depressants!), I would often go a day or longer without eating because I couldn't stir up the energy/will to even make a sandwich or something. Sometimes I even went entire weekends without eating. Needless to say "Eat more X" would not have been a helpful solution. EDIT: Also, I loving love chicken and turkey, so double bullshit on their "cure".

I think if something as ubiquitous as freaking chicken cured depression then we'd have noticed that only vegetarians are ever depressed.
