edit- well hello new page, have a book about bitcoin that failed to make even 10% of its goal, unless something happens in the next 70 minutes. Followed by a furry rip-off of Y: The Last Man I'm guessing, given that there's no pitch video and only one picture, which is improperly sized.

A guy in the comments said he's tracking the pledges and it seems like someone is inflating and deflating their backing by wild amounts. I wouldn't be surprised if all of the big donations are recanted right before the end.

I mean, still, it's over 5000 legitimate dollars anyway so that is a lot of pizza parties.

I've read that page several times and the best I can gather is that it's a device that consumes your home wifi, stores the "internet" it sucks up, and then lets you tap into it and make a wifi hotspot anywhere? Something about satellites too. I can't make any sense of it.

The guy behind Potato Salad got interviewed on Sky News and Good Morning America and a t-shirt company jumped on the band wagon and is manufacturing shirts for one of the reward levels.

Unlike Doobie's, this guy's well-being and financial security don't depend on how well he makes this salad. He'll make money, probably will try to make another kickstarter later, will fail, will move on with his life, end of story.

A few thousand of that will be actual pledges but at least $35,000 will be bogus pledges that will either be retracted before it ends or won't be connected to a bank account with sufficient funds. poo poo, it'd only take 6 of us to bump it up to $100,000 (KS have a $10K maximum on pledges) if we wanted. That'd confuse the gently caress out of the media.

27K is from donations of 50 or less. There is probably a fake 10K donation in there somewhere. Hell even you assume everything over 25 is someone who isn't going to deliver he'd still clear 13K.

Okay I agree with most of your rant but where is this coming from? EMP is just a phenomenon of electromagnetism. It is very rare and kinda silly to dedicate a whole section to like you mentioned, but its hardly ONLY a "loving nuclear explosion or a non existent magical sci-fi superweapon". All kinds of devices create minor EMP fields which don't do any harm, and in many situations a harmful EMP can even be created in your house. If you really wanted to, you could simply build a device which would create a strong pulse and depending upon your electrical know-how you could probably knock out a few devices. Its the opposite of sci-fi, its basic loving science. Lightning also creates EMP, and we have all kinds of devices which create extremely powerful EMP just for the purposes of testing devices resistance to EMP, such as airplanes which have to fly through lightning without turning off.

Weaponized EMP is mostly sci-fi because it isn't usually worth the hassle, but it can absolutely be done. There's all kinds of such devices in existence, and you could make one, although it's not gonna take out a whole city or even a whole block. They're also pretty easy to defeat (Faraday cage, etc.)

ah fair enough, but the FAQ doesn't mentions lightening strikes in a completely different section, while the EMP part mentions nuclear bombs several times. It's definitely worded in such a way that they seem to be addressing weaponized EMP and the solar roadways as a separate issue from lightening strikes or natural phenomena.
