A character who could be seen as the latest big bad in homestuck is a tumblerette. Moffat also reuses phrases like homestuck and of course both are largely stories about time travel.

I'm saying Andrew Hussie's comic and Moffat's show have some similarities, though Hussie is far better at writing women of course.

All I wanna do is make you bounce
Episode 1: Regeneration episode. Baddies are robot cousins to the clockwork robots from Girl in the Fireplace, with the same penchant for organ theft. The Doctor wears a dead dude's skin as a disguise and makes dick jokes about the sonic screwdriver.

Episode 2: Like that Disney ride Body Wars where you ride inside the body, but inside a Dalek instead - the Doctor goes inside a Dalek to figure out what turned it "good". The writers try to justify the bullshit memory wipe from Asylum of the Daleks, and the Doctor casually disregards the death of someone who literally died in front of him.

Episode 3: Robin Hood with evil robots working alongside the Sheriff. The Doctor uses a spoon to fight Robin Hood and the two of them compare dicks for the rest of the episode.

Episode 4: The Doctor goes chasing after the monster that lives under your bed, convinced it's real. It turns out that he's just afraid of the dark (still, at 2000 years old) and Clara is yet again the Specialest Snowflake.

Episode 5: The Doctor, Clara, and some aliens get kidnapped and forced to perform an Ocean's Eleven style bank heist. There are a couple of twists here, including one that's really obvious. Unsure what the point of bringing Clara along here was at all.

Having not read the scripts or seen any casting information, I am holding out hope that, at the very least, Robin was Rik Mayall's last role before his sad death recently.

For some reason this one bugs me the most because it completely flies in the face of a character that has acted like someone who has tamed and made peace with his more primal fears for 50+ years. Like it's one thing if he just says "Oh yeah of course the dark is always scary, I just go into it anyway," but every time this spoiler gets brought up I get the impression that it's legitimately going to have the Doctor incongruously looking at a dark corner or something and being all hesitant even though he has gone into dark corners so many times in prior episodes it's clearly bullshit invented just for this episode. I can almost get behind the "monster under your bed" idea since it's not far removed from most whimsical psuedo-mythological poo poo the Doctor occasionally gets involved in, but as a blurb it sounds way too faux-whimsical and childish (obligatory  Doctor Who is a children's show  comment).

Clara being the specialist snowflake doesn't quite bother me though. After Rose and River it's honestly expected of NuWho.

Let me start off with a basket of chips. Then move on to the pollo asado taco.
The thick of it is my favourite show ever and Malcolm one of my favourite characters ever, so I was sort of half torn between wanting Capaldi to totally make me forget about Malcolm and become The Doctor and also wanting to see some kind of Malcolm-Doctor hybrid. There are just flickering moments in that first episode where he's there. Specifically the scene with the tramp. "I'm cold, give me yer coat!" I just felt like any second it was going to turn into "Hey Oscar the fuckin' grouch, give me yer fuckin' coat". Then when he's talking about his face, all I could think of was that it was his bollocking face. I think one way or another, no matter how bad some of the scripts he gets will be, he's going to really deliver some awesome stuff.

How the gently caress is Moffat so terrible that this post isn't wrong.

Most of Moffat's baddies have the same basic premise. It's either intrinsic or it's part of how they operate. The Gas Mask people rise silently from beds, the Clockwork Robots pop out from under them, the Weeping Angels only move/exist when you're not looking, the Vashta Nerada literally are the darkness. The silence are at most in the corner of your eye...

The episode is loving dumb because it's built around the fear of the dark being irrational. In like, pretty much every Moffat-penned story it's a somewhat rational fear. It's not just the library two parter. It's arguably one of the defining themes of the current showrunner's work on the show.

Clever Betty
I watched the leaked episode. When The Doctor has the "I'm not your boyfriend," "I didn't think you were," "It's not your mistake." exchange, is he saying he regrets recognizing that she was in love with him and continuing to act flirty anyway despite not being interested in her because he's insecure and desperate to be admired or is he saying that he actually did have genuine romantic feelings for her that he thinks were inappropriate? If it's the former, while more in keeping with his character, it's just kind of retreading old ground we already went over with Martha and Amy (see God Complex speech). If it's the latter then that's a really weird way to address the issue, but um, OK. Also, groaner for The Doctor falling in love with such a dull blank slate.

Clever Betty
I did go look at the leaked scripts. Listen sounds just awful but the heist one sounds fun. Even if it's dumb I always love a good heist.

Also, after reading the script it seems obvious now The Doctor was in love with Clara. I re watched some scenes from season 7 with that in mind and I'm OK with it since it seems the Doctor is more in love with the idea of Clara than who she actually is. Whether he remains so will play out in the acting. From The Doctor's lines in the heist script it could go either way. I guess the doctor having an unrequited crush on someone could be written well but this is Moffat we're talking about here. If they do have a Doctor Danny love triangle it will be awful.

I took that to mean he had more or less been acting like her eccentric boyfriend, always trying to impress her and being flirty and that he won't be doing that anymore. Vastra has a conversation with Clara about it as well, earlier in the episode.

My expectations were low but I was pleasantly surprised for the most part. Takes a while before Capaldi gets any real screen time but I like his more adult and somber take and the new tardis interior is pretty retro scifi and cool.

But the Missy reveal? No, Moffat, please stop hitting us.

I gotta say i never noticed Matt Smith's Doctor having a crush on Clara, was it just badly conveyed or was i not paying attention? To be fair i was so tired of the blank stare companions with changing personalities from episode to episode that i probably just had the last season on in the background while playing Dwarf Fortress. And Clara was just so loving boring.

Oh I remember that exchange. Christmas episode, he was asked by Clara to pretend to be her boyfriend in front of her parents. He said he'd been practicing kissing and he'd be happy to do it. Clara seemed a bit squicked out and reminded him it wasn't for real.

Nightmare in Silver. There's the part where the Cyberman infection inside him tries a gambit to convince Clara that the Doctor has fallen in love with her, and it must have gotten that idea from somewhere inside the Doctor's head. More importantly, though, there's a bit later on in that episode where the Doctor calls “a mystery wrapped in an enigma squeezed into a skirt that’s just a little too tight" and then gets this derpy grin on his face. It's exactly the look of someone who just realized that he's in love with someone and that it might just work.

Also, the subtext of pretty much the entirety of Hide points to it.
