I haven't seen the original Death Race, but I saw the remake. Which somehow managed to be even mroe video-gamey than what I knew of the original movie's concept, by way of literally being Mariokart.

But the original is better. It's like cross country Mario Kart. E: It's that cross country race from Speed Racer but with the racers all killing each other.
