Thanks to all the crusty seaman in here for the sea metal suggestions so far. Some of them I should have remembered on my own, but there were plenty of new ones for me. Between the Buried and Me posted a clip of Extremophile Elite from their upcoming live Bluray. I like Paul Waggoner's cool 70s rock dad/Derek Smalls look. Also, be on the lookout for tuba man about halfway through. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxGC5WpUbHQ

Also, Amon Amarth - Risen from the Sea Borknagar - Oceans Rise Bal-Sagoth - Atlantis Ascendant (actually listen to that whole drat album) And, saving the best for last, Keep of Kalessin - Armada - If you like this kind of metal this is the album you want. Vassafor are super good and he's working on a new full length which is supposed to be coming out sometime next year. The split with Sinistrous Diabolus(another cool NZ band) from this year was good as well. Also they play live quite rarely but if you get the chance to see them do so because they rule.

Not quite Portal-like, but Nick McMaster (bassist/vocalist of Krallice, Geryon, Castevet, etc.) has teamed up with Ian Jacyszyn (drummer of Castevet) and Paulo Henri Paguntalan (guitarist/vocalist of Copremesis) to form yet another awesome/weird death metal band called GATH ŠMÂNÊ. Seems like a lot of those are popping up lately...only one track released so far, but it's excellent. https://soundcloud.com/blutige-magie/gath-smane-capillaries-of-augury edit: In other Krallice band member news, here's something *significantly* more Portal-like: Mick Barr, Colin Marston, Weasel Walter, and Paulo Henri https://encenathrakh.bandcamp.com/releases Optimum Gulps fucked around with this message at 02:30 on Sep 24, 2014 |

He's always been one of my favorite vocalists and I blast Crimson I/II and Purgatory Afterglow on regular rotation. I think the only other death metal vocalist that's been as consistently amazing as Swano over the past 20-30 years would be Piotr Wiwczarek from Vader. Note I am gay for both Edge of Sanity/Swano and Vader so I may be biased.
