Also,
Amon Amarth - Risen from the Sea
Borknagar - Oceans Rise
Bal-Sagoth - Atlantis Ascendant (actually listen to that whole drat album)

And, saving the best for last,
Keep of Kalessin - Armada - If you like this kind of metal this is the album you want. So awesome.

Mitochondrion are the best of the bunch IMO, but this 3 track Malthusian release is great too https://invictusproductions666.bandcamp.com/album/demo-mmxiii

There is loads of other stuff sounding kind of Portal-y at the moment:

Portal side project, Impetuous Ritual. They're cool & sound kind of similar: https://profoundlorerecords.bandcamp.com/album/relentless-execution-of-ceremonial-excrescence

Vassafor: https://vassafor.bandcamp.com/album/obsidian-codex

Adversarial: https://darkdescentrecords.bandcamp.com/album/all-idols-fall-before-the-hammer

Irkallian Oracle: https://nuclearwarnowproductions.bandcamp.com/album/grave-ekstasis

Grave Upheaval (listen to this suffocatingly loudly or the production sort of gets in the way): https://nuclearwarnowproductions.bandcamp.com/album/no-title

They have some industrial sounds going on as well, but "textural dread filled nightmare metal" is 100% what Ævangelist are: https://dmp666.bandcamp.com/album/writhes-in-the-murk

Crimson Massacre's 2005 album is chaotic and textural and really nightmarish. Might be stretching things but it reminds me a good deal of Portal's most recent stuff.

Vassafor are super good and he's working on a new full length which is supposed to be coming out sometime next year. You wanna save this place, right? And I want to destroy it. Brick by hypocritical brick.
Not quite Portal-like, but Nick McMaster (bassist/vocalist of Krallice, Geryon, Castevet, etc.) has teamed up with Ian Jacyszyn (drummer of Castevet) and Paulo Henri Paguntalan (guitarist/vocalist of Copremesis) to form yet another awesome/weird death metal band called GATH ŠMÂNÊ. Seems like a lot of those are popping up lately...only one track released so far, but it's excellent.

Well, they get a lot of poo poo because of their style and apparently they're popular now with the 'scene' ... whatever the gently caress that means, I'm guessing that's a thing that happened after my time or something. Swano's still got it, as witnessed on Witherscape, but I dont think it's something he can do at length. He's always been one of my favorite vocalists and I blast Crimson I/II and Purgatory Afterglow on regular rotation. I think the only other death metal vocalist that's been as consistently amazing as Swano over the past 20-30 years would be Piotr Wiwczarek from Vader.

Note I am gay for both Edge of Sanity/Swano and Vader so I may be biased.
