I mean, normal workshop submissions that get accepted into the game get you cash, and from what I've heard usually a pretty decent amount. http://www.teamfortress.com/tombraidercontest/ posted:When winning or runner-up entries are sold, Valve will pay creators a 25% revenue share, pursuant to the terms of the Steam Subscriber Agreement and Workshop Supplemental Terms. They added strangifiers for all the Halloween achievement hats and weapons, you sometimes get them when you uncrate the new Halloween crates. They look to be pretty expensive on the marketplace.

After goofing around as a pure demoknight on the halloween maps, I've come to think that the wee booties lovely turnspeed bonus should be replaced with something that increases charge recharge time. Charging is your bread and butter, and if you've got no other way to kill people, the item that restricts you to that should help you charge more often, like the persian persuader does.

I don't understand why you can get normal items out of the crates. Last years crates only had haunted items, same as the year before. Hopefully Valve realises next year that more people will buy Halloween stuff if there are some items they can wear all-year round.

A bunch of new strangifiers and when do I get a Lugermorph Strangifier Valve I'm telling you come on *cough* sorry about that. Anyway, I've been playing a bunch of Halloween Mix, and here is my very scientific, 100% accurate ranking of Halloween maps: 1) Helltower 2) Tombfort tied with Mann Manor 3) Eyeaduct tied with Harvest-plus tied with this new Carnival nonsense. The Merasmus and Monoculus fights both have the problem where, if 100% of the server can't agree on "fight the boss" or "fight each other", then it's miserable for anyone trying to fight the boss. But Merasmus makes up for that by being much, much more interesting, whether you're fighting him or fighting around him. Also, the fact that they downplayed the whole "portal to another world" setup compared to Monoculus makes it seem like much less of a "big deal" if people can't agree to fight him -- I think it's because you can't get as big of a PvP bonus via the boss mechanics. His spells are all entertaining, and they synergize well with the map design. Monoculus just spammed crockets. Mann Manor gets a bonus because it's decorated from the ground-up for its theme. (That's just because it's from that community map-art contest, designed in parallel with Mountain Lab, but hey they still get credit.) And the boss fight worked, and doesn't conflict with the primary objective -- in fact, leading the boss to your opponents adds a strategy to the main game. Since the boss never went away without defeat, it's not too much trouble for people to get the achievement for fighting him. Harvest is fun. Nothing too special, but it's a fun map, with unobtrusive fun twists. The Carnival map is a mess. Doomsday is bad already, and neither Merasmus's spells or the Player spells work nearly as well here as they do in their original maps. Seriously, I played this before I played either Helltower or Tombfort, and both of those things suddenly made a lot more sense and were a lot more fun, as soon as I saw them in a map where they belonged. Player spells are less interesting partly because: 80% of the map space, between the strongman game and the ticket pickup, is just useless space you run through. Two of the bumper car games are an entertaining gimmick, though, and worth trying for a little while. Helltower is amazing, and the only event I intend to spend time playing beyond the achievements. Hightower is already great -- it's a large map, full of interesting and memorable spaces, but they all connect to each other in a flowing, understandable way. Compare the number of places you'd consider casting Monoculus in Helltower (in either shed, over either cap point, down below in the open, near the portal when the bridge is up, etc) to the number of places you'd consider casting Monoculus in the Carnival (by the lift, maybe at the ticket pickup). The portal-to-get-buffs works really well when it's not tied up with a boss fight, and the strategy around spells is actually relatively deep. The hell segment in the end is fun, everyone gets to participate, and it's appropriately brief. Ditocoaf fucked around with this message at 19:24 on Nov 4, 2014 |

There's no reason to worry. I'm almost positive it doesn't hook into the hl2.exe at all which is what VAC bans look for. Also not getting the hat was from using Drunken Fool's exe that idled in a command prompt. I didn't get one either (and then lost my Miner's Light and Respectless Rubber Glove ) but in the Mannconomy update they ended up giving it to everyone for some reason and I got one then

As if doomsday_event wasn't bad enough already, there's apparently an bug in the map as well that allows you to build sentries underground, and every server now has some rear end in a top hat(s) exploiting it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKVM7oTkCJQ&t=20s Collateral Damage fucked around with this message at 20:44 on Nov 4, 2014 |

Vetitum posted:Anyone posted this yet or tried it? I've played it, it's one lap per race, which means every 45 seconds to a minute you're stopping and starting again, there's 3 tracks on the one map that you change between, which is cool at least. The powerups tend to help your enemies rather than hinder them, since you usually hit them from behind, which makes them fly forward, usually ahead of everyone else. It's got some potential, but we need better handling, tracks that are more than one lap and more powerups.
