SubRosa's a sludgy group that's got a female vocalist/guitarist, as well as two more women violinists/vocalists. No Help for the Mighty Ones is the first album of theirs I heard and probably still my favorite. http://subrosausa.bandcamp.com/album/no-help-for-the-mighty-ones Myrkur, a one-woman Danish black metal band. http://myrkur.bandcamp.com/ Epistasis has a female vocalist, though it might be a little hard to tell at first. She also plays guitar and trumpet. http://crucialblast.bandcamp.com/album/light-through-dead-glass

There's Thorr's Hammer, the seismic doom thing. The WREK metal show, in the early 00's, would lead off every show with this song. That's a live version featuring someone's camera mic being obliterated by bass waves, so here is the more decipherable studio version. Darkened Nocturn Slaughtercult for your black metal needs. And Sinister in the Rachel era. They're kinda dull, though.

I seriously feel a bit guilty listening to anything she does, because I just have this feeling in the back of my head that I'm enjoying something that I really shouldn't be. Made Out of Babies, Battle of Mice, and her solo album The Bad Wife are all things that I keep in rotation though, because loving hell she's compelling. Two more for the female fronted pile: Murderess and Dark Castle

Arch Enemy In Iron Maiden-chat, I kinda discounted the first couple albums for a while because Not Bruce, but I've been giving them a listen lately and I'm digging the sound. A lot leaner sound than some of the more popular albums.

They are the definition of a band that has had one good album and then coasted forever on people hoping they would put out another one. At least Cro Mags had like two and a half good albums.

A little late but yeah, Liquid Metal and Jose especially are loving AWFUL and its such a disappointment that they play so much generic bullshit, just horrible stuff with maybe a few gems mixed in. I hardly change it from Ozzy's Boneyard except when they play Ozzy.. .
