So the place I'm at ordered 15 expensive rear end cameras that use CAT7 from Germany. They spent 2 weeks on the docks in Boston before getting here. Each camera has 2 LED boards for wide angle light and spot light. All of the LED boards are are in the wrong position. In every camera. All I've done today is drill and tap all the I beams they are getting mounted to. Work is dragging. Which is why I assume my boss wanted to get Chinese food for lunch. I've always used the terms "guys and girls" and "chicks and dudes".

Sure I get it. poo poo boxes? Sure. But blue cars is not an answer.

I was crestfalled when I found out that the switch to the JK Unlimited was four-door only, which I still cannot get past. Two doors or none! I kinda agree but then again I could probably haul an axle or I6 engine back home in a JKU. Not sure I'd want to do that in a TJ/YJ. And JKUs seem roughly XJ-like wheelbase and clearance wise... once you put a couple inches of spring lift in them and maybe stick some 35s or 37s on.

Terrible Robot posted:In regards to the manual thing, I tend to ask anyone who shows an interest in cars whether they can drive a stick, regardless of gender. Never even thought of it as a sexist thing before. On its own it's not really a sexist thing. It becomes a problem when men use it as part of a process to grill women on their bona fides as car enthusiasts. This applies to any male dominated "enthusiast" community, I think-I saw it a lot when I used to hang out on musicians' forums. Girls practically had to write a dissertation about their instrument/amp/music theory knowledge/whatever or post pics of themselves before they could hang with the group, but guys got a free pass. It was (and is) an ugly double standard. You don't need to know the spark plug thread pitch of a 1927 Packard to be a car enthusiast, just like you don't need to know the entitle history of ($obscure_instrument_builder) to talk about guitars. Guys who set up those kinds of criteria for women are obnoxious and I really appreciate that it's never been an issue for AI even though I'm a guy. I'm just saying that it's a problem if you set out to use it as an arbitrary criteria to exclude someone based on their gender. The truth is, as already stated- tons of "enthusiasts" can't drive stick. Many can't parallel park. It is just an arbitrary excuse for a "not willing to put the effort forth" exclusion. I learned to drive stick on a B2200 years ago, but that doesn't change the fact that I haven't had a stick since 2011. You can't really choose a used cars' transmission when you are trolling for cheap cars (at least in my small SAAB world), and it really is a pain in the rear end to drive stick in any city that has hills. Every loving jerkoff wants to get 2" off your rear end and you need to be able to feather the fucker so you don't roll back, etc, etc, etc.. My 4 speed autotragic in the daily is perfectly usable, and bulletproof. Do I miss having a stick for a DD? Yes. Do I miss it enough to give up the convenience and reliability of my 4 speed auto? No. grope proof vest posted:Drive a DSG to get a little of both worlds and really show your enthusiasm Did that with a CVT Versa, prayed to not die. It was scary as hell trying to get it up to 20, and then eventually beyond 20. It is literally the first car I decided I'd rather take the bus than own. I'd take a goddamn '81 Chevy Citation, but don't give me a Versa.

goatse guy posted:After seeing the way men interact with other male car enthusiasts, and then seeing the way they interact with female car enthusiasts, I can confidently say that it is a gender thing. There's a reason why AI is the only car forum that I'm on these days, and it's because it's the only one where I feel I'm getting treated as an equal. One of the first things I noticed about AI that made me realize it's a cool group I want to be a part of is the lack of sexism and other discrimination. I've only seen one other forum where a woman could join without being constantly belittled or creeped on, but I was basically exiled from there when I bought a different car.
