As long as you redeem the $5 codes it generates, it should never expire. The codes themselves expire june 2015.

What's the effective range on the Wii U game pad? I was hoping I'd be able to keep the console in my bedroom and be able to play on the game pad in the living room, but the connection seems to only go about 20-25 feet.

They should bundle one with Pokemon Z where you get bonus exp for climbing a mountain with a bird Pokemon or reaching the bottom of the ocean with a Magikarp

I got a good chuckle from that when the wife and I bought Wii Fit U and Fit Meters.

I really miss Pokewalker integration...Its not like the carts for Black and White didn't have the sensor in them. :(

Sadly it isn't very far. It's better for just sitting on the couch and playing games while your significant other watches something on TV.

Dragon Force is a masterpiece. My favorite reason I owned a Saturn. I never played the sequel, I would still enjoy the opportunity to.

And why are people having pissing contests over what old gen systems were the best? Clearly the 3DO is better than any of the previous and current consoles.

Regarding the Wii U: I'm stoked for Kirby. I haven't played any of the stylus games, so this will be my first. It looks fun and the art direction is wonderful. I love claymation and Kirby looks like it was made with real clay.

Between the Wii U and the PS4, 2015 is going to be a very expensive year.

Sometimes, in a city this dirty, you need a real hero.
We're recently been hooking up my old wii-motes to the wiiu but seem to be getting some weird random disconnects.

We've not used the controllers for ages (the last time i played the wii was when xenoblade came out and that was with a pro controller), and we've got fully charged duracell regargables in there so i'm pretty sure power isn't the problem.

Does anyone know what else it might be or other things i should try ruling out?

We did have some 3rd party recharagable packs sitting in them while we weren't using them, could that have damaged them somehow?

- New Super Mario Bros. Wii

30:

Couldn't check Mario Golf/Tennis but from what I remember at least Tennis is 60 too.

And yeah, most NES and SNES stuff runs at 60, though will suffer slowdown with lots of sprites on screen.

The thing that always blew my mind was that F-zero X on the N64 and GX on the Gamecube both ran at 60 even with all those other racers on the screen.

Ok new to the Wii U (and never had a Wii): I just bought a Wii U, Super Mario 3d World, Smash, Kart, and Donkey Kong. Is Smash really the only game I can play with others using a GameCube controller? If so, what's my easiest solution to this, a regular Wiimote?

Get this. It's not a true Gamecube controller but a Wii Controler Pro which works for most games. It's backwards-compatible and pretty decently built.

"Hi Everybody!"
If you're worried about missing out on specific Amiibos, Nintendo have said that they'll probably release RFID cards of the ones that just don't sell well instead of another run of the actual figure versions. You'll still get all the in-game functionality, just no fancy statue.

I don't think anyone's worried about missing out on the functionality. From the Amiibo thread:

To counter this point, if I take three steps out of my living room, my Wii U loses connection with the gamepad.

There's no one I'd rather be than me.

Well, I bit the bullet and got my Wii U today. I bought the set from Target that includes Mario 3D World and Nintendo World. I also got Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2.

Mario 3D is ok. I played the first couple of stages. To me the best Mario games are the ones that have an element of exploration to them. Where you could find something in a level that leads to a whole slew of other places to go (Super Mario World, 64, Galaxy to an extent) I don't know how long I can stick with it if it's just Point A to point B. Hyrule Warriors was AMAZING! I can already tell you I am dumping hours into this. Are any of the other Dynasty Warrior games worth picking up? I haven't tried Bayonetta or Nintendo Land yet.

I also got a Link figure. Kind of wish they picked a pose that didn't require that clear piece to be there to keep him up.

Edit: Also, gently caress the dude at Target that sold it to me. He tried to tell me I needed to buy a Wii-mote for it because it doesn't come with one and the games are unplayable with the tablet. Mario 3D and Warriors worked just loving fine with the tablet.
