They actually got on some expert to say "everything is going to be fine" that the guys posting things to the contrary are just trolls, and that the company is just trying to be come more profitable, or in their words, "raise the margins from 10% o 12%" and that these layoffs were cyclical in nature. They put words in his mouths when he was a MMO specialist and had no real knowledge of STO itself. If podcasts don't tow the company line they don't get devs and community managers as guests. Also in order to care enough about a thing to devote time to producing and publishing a podcast on said subject you are already quite throughly behind whatever decisions are made because no one does podcasts about games they aren't massive fans of. In other words only a wholly devoted fanboy would do a STO podcast in the first place. Anyone remember the goon STO podcast? Oh boy was that a thing.

Yeah I am having fun in Champions right now (superhero dressup is one of my weaknesses) and the only reason I can think of that it's doing 'better' than STO is that there's an actual reason to sub (access to freeform characters) in addition to a cash shop.

Apart from STO (and Star Citizen), what else is kind of fun? (In a strictly non magic/korean MMO kind way..)

Any one of these is both public domain and very uncomfortable for redditors. Any combination of the above should see at least one hyperventilating fat nerd screaming in apoplectic rage at his computer until his mother comes down to ask him what's wrong. e: Really, you can use the above checklist for any reddit discussion.

http://www.arcgames.com/en/games/star-trek-online/news/detail/9111543 A lot of words about advanced queue rewards and difficulty. Sounds like overall a net improvement, but there's some phrasing in there (like the continued insistence that advanced queues still have some sort of failure condition) that just screams to me that Geko had some sort of manchild sperg crying fit when the few competent people at Cryptic tried to fix things. It's also a good two months later than it could have been to be really effective, but at least they did it before the big new player draw event.

Yeah look anything that makes queues more playable is good, and removing the hard fail conditions on optionals will be great. It'd still be good to see more of an experience reward for queuing, but at least this is a step in the right direction.

Oh also I posted a few weeks ago that I was checking to see how far I could get a fresh character just by playing story missions. I capped out at 55, in the middle of the incredibly unfortunate Kobali ground zone. Focus from here on out with that character will be to work on reputations, as I am genuinely at a loss as to how to level from here.

Yeah now that you can't grind out patrols I guess uh, never. Or just make a circuit around the galaxy map doing patrols one after another and then quit the game for good.

I imagine the expectation would be that you ran queues or did patrols, but queues give absolute poo poo for XP and you can no longer just roll the profitable/quickest patrols. Only real way to level to 60 now is to circle around the patrols you have access too.

I was thinking about just doing Argala and a Tau Dewa patrol daily(ish) to keep up my supply of Romulan and Delta marks. CCA for Tholian marks, Borg Disconnected (?) for Dyson and Undine marks, hopefully a random Brog STF for Omega Force. Just dicking around like this for a few days has got me to tier one pretty much everywhere, which if nothing else has opened up a tonne of transwarp locations and the opportunity to grind for consoles.

It reads like they want the hard failures to keep teams from farming queues for endless xp or something. Which is silly since you go doffing for xp.

Oh yeah, doffing. I should do that instead of feeding doffs to the Starbase for uniform money.
