I got 99 problems but the British ain't one.
At first we thought the failure of the game was due to PWEs policies, but it turns out the lead developer is a trek sperg with his head up his rear end.

Either PWE reigns him in or the game burns a slow agonizing death. And so far, PWE has taken a get the talent out and wash our hands of it approach.

Nope - someone not long back in the thread correctly identified that the moment that they can't pay the license fee, the product gets pulled.

Something to note also is with licensing fees for a game based on a property like this is that they will be more apt to pull the plug when profits drop than they would on an original IP. They really need to turn this poo poo around in a big way quickly

So long as the game turns a profit, they'll keep paying the license fee. So long as trek spergs are dumb (and they are) they will keep buying new ships and keep buying into the lock boxes. The game is gonna burn slowly unless something even more drastic happens.

Yea, the tone here is nothing like the tone you see on reddit or in response to Sto Facebook posts. I've had people very unabashedly tell me that yes they would not only buy a T6 Defiant but also a T7, T8, etc if and when the time comes. There's a good chunk of people that'll keep this going forever.

To give you an idea, here's something I came across the other day, who loves this game so much you may ask? The type of autistic that needs 20000 words to communicate the idea "DPS goes up if you sit closer to targets"

I only peek at the reddit now and then and I've seen people seriously argue that their dedicated tank or healing or rainbow or beam+cannon ships are totally fine for PVE and damage isn't the only thing that matters so why should they care about damage? How dare you try and give them advice to not be poo poo, it's a game and games should be fun and it doesn't matter if I'm a special snowflake!

Just in case you were wondering why anyone with two firing neurons could have predicted the hard failure conditions in advanced queues would have wound up as a disaster. :effort: And the official forums are somehow even worse.

What I never got about those types of people is why would they like that? It totally ruins the feel of flying a huge gently caress off battleship if you're just reduced to bitch agro management or healing duty. :psyduck: Like being a self sustaining dps juggernaut is how to do no trinity right, what is wrong with these people?

WoW and classic tank/healer/deeps trinity games have literally broken a lot of MMO gamers, sort of like how D&D3/Pathfinder's eccentricities broke a lot of tabletop gamers. Even ignoring the people who just want to be special snowflakes, there's a not insignificant percentage of MMO players who are so used to having undeserved importance simply due to their class/spec pick doing support-type roles that they fumble with a generalist and are faced with the sudden realization nobody wants them around if they aren't mandatory to take fact that they're just like any other player. It's actually a pretty interesting dynamic, or at least would be if these retards weren't making GBS threads up queues and pressuring Cryptic to make dumb sweeping changes to the only good part of the game.

Another reason some people want to be "tanks" so much is they're the type of person who can't stand seeing their character or ship die/blow up because it literally breaks them a little more mentally. I wish I was making this up. Saw this frequently in ArcheAge where leaders of guilds would force their subordinates to give them all the tanking loot from world bosses and such, would order everyone to concentrate their heals on themselves and just outright have a mental breakdown yelling at and kicking people from their guild when they "failed" to keep them alive.

I meant the other dude. I heard tell of FC sperglordery like that, and I remember there were some goons in FC.

I learned yesterday that balistafreak is still going strong in AA, as leader of goons there. Bless him.

I used to think that STO was the worst game I ever played. Then I played archeage.

Now the lord has delivered me, and I play Project Gorgon, which is legitimately really really good.

And I can run it and sto in different windows.

I do miss the AAGoons mumble though sometimes, it was good.

At least when I was in high school, dying in an mmo was actually a lovely experience, with losing a lot of XP, gear deteriorating/breaking/dropping, etc.

Dying in STO means practically nothing (I didn't play ArcheAge long enough to die).

Not really a surprise, though I'm amazed they waited this long when they're not adding a new fleet holding. I guess we can officially write fleet stuff off as orphaned content... luckily the upgrade system means a lot of the items stay useful at least.

Well that was pretty much the big reason for the BOFF revamp that hit with Delta Rising. The old system was horrible and useless behind the scenes in ways we probably can't even imagine, so changing it all finally gave them the option to add new powers, make big changes to old ones eventually if necessary, and stuff like that without completely breaking bridge officers.

Not exactly thrilled by having multiple ranks of them and putting them in a lockbox though, good luck on reasonable prices there.

Not quite that many, but still a fuckload. The bigger thing is the release of fleet T6 ships is kind of a final tacit admission that T5 boats are obsolete and will continue to remain so, just in case the T6 bugship and galaxy didn't get that across clearly enough.

So, with fleet T6 ships coming... Scryer, Pathfinder, or Dauntless? There's pretty subtle differences, but they're big enough. Scryer would probably be in the lead except for the tac seating being really strict and it, well, being a bit fugly. Can kind of get away with reciprocity and like TT/APB1 + FAW1 but I'd prefer not to, and while doubling up attack powers with Surgical Strikes is handy that's been nerfed a lot too and I'm not sure how it compares to FAW now. Dauntless meanwhile is really tac heavy, but that means giving up a science console if I want to do anything beyond plas leech+assimilated console. While the Pathfinder's pretty good all around and the best looking of the lot, but lacks the gimmicks and flexibility of the scryer and a bit of the potency of the dauntless.

I mean I could just buy them all but :effort:
