They did it explicitly as a "gently caress you" to the music industry that was demonizing the Internet and suing fans. It has 100k+ downloads, had a physical printing, and a song ported to Rock Band. I remember when they made that announcement-- it was before Radiohead did their "pay what you can" album. Yeah Harvey Danger had a few legit good albums, the vocals aren't for everyone I imagine but in addition to Moral Centralia I also especially like War Buddies and Cool James off the album. Check it out, youtube is free and easy nowadays but they're also on spotify/etc

It's not like the Escapist hides their pro GG slant, not to mention their shameless hiring of that transphobic fuckface, who mainly writes on a hardcore conservative site which I'm pretty sure is also owned by the Escapist's parent company. So yeah, pretty much. The Escapist is a less successful Fox News.

This isn't related to the Escapist, or anything/anyone in particular, but just in general. Is it weird to dislike someone/something for any number of reasons, but still respecting their thoughts and opinions about any subject, be it anime or movies or novels or what have you?

That's how I feel about Jay O! And, truthfully, a lot of older Nostalgia Critic episodes make really good points and can be insightful sometimes. Absolute scumbags make really good stuff from time to time, making it all the more tragic they are scumbags.

You have that with pretty much every critic sooner or later. But as long as you can understand their reasoning, I don't think it is much of a problem. It can get a little grating if that isn't the case though.

I have that relationship with Yahtzee Croshaw. I don't agree with most of his opinions, and I strongly suspect he's a bad person ("la la la I can't hear you if I pretend social injustice doesn't exist then it doesn't") but I still enjoy reading his opinions because of how refreshingly different they are, and how he at least has salient reasonings behind them.

Speaking of Yahtzee, one of his videos is on display at the Australian Centre for the Moving Image in Melbourne as an example of Australian digital media. I bet they also have one of Infamous Sphere’s videos in the rotation and I just didn’t happen to see it. Anyway, I’m back from my vacation and I’ve got a new review of a film featuring the wacky antics that surround a dead stripper. It’s Lady of Burlesque on Cheapskate Reviews.

Can't say I didn't see that coming, but not for the reason I thought it would be. On a more on-topic side of things, I haven't been watching any NC lately, not since the dramabomb even if there were some things I agreed with some of the insights in the reviews. Interestingly (?) enough, I applied for a job at the ACMI for their hollywood costume exhibition, but I think a lot of people applied for the same job and they probably wanted to give it to someone who wasn't going to have to uproot themselves and travel 8 hours south.
