Why won't they just fiddle with the numbers on the semi-auto shotgun, or any gun for that matter? It's like they are waiting to bundle it with something else for no good reason.

They're already trying to shove things out the door without causing people's processors to melt from unexpected bugs; since it's not an adversarial MP game I would think balance is low on their priorities

Yeah, plus as much of a letdown the combat shotgun is, Supports still have the Boomstick and AA12 so not like they are suffering right now in the long run on the weapon selection front. Berserkers need more care than supports by a good margin.

It doesn't even need to be a 4. Just make it a 5 like the SG 500 is so the two shotguns weigh the same as KF1's were and that's that. If you're crazy like me you can carry the Combat AND the AA12 if you want without the 5 extra carry weight skill. And if you take the skill? Three shotgun fun.

Honestly the shotguns are probably priced wrong for their effectiveness. It'd make more sense for the combat shotgun to be 650 and the double barrel to be 1100. Although that would suck...

I like the combat shotgun okay, it's the best for head shots at range. The problem is I can't carry it, the aa12 and double barrel. But I can carry the aa12, double barrel, standard shotgun and a medic pistol. Choice is pretty clear when ammo is an issue in HOE.

Also, they still haven't lengthened the victory screen time while the defeat one is still far too long! I thought they were gonna do something about that in the closed beta?

I liked KF1's shotgun selection because the AA12/combat shotgun dichotomy was an actual choice. The combat shotgun did more damage and was lighter, more like an upgraded regular shotgun, while the AA12 was more of a commando/support hybrid play style due to its lower damage, fire modes, and ammo capacity. Now, the AA12 just blows the other options out of the water, which is less fun to me. There's no reason to take the combat shotgun as it is.

Aside from using the AA12 to madgump on single target big boys, the shotguns are much, MUCH less effective off perk from the lack of penetration so you'd feel the ammo woes even more. Boomstick isn't nearly as beefy when the shots don't go farther than a few clots deep instead of "I pointed it at the broken door and now 12 trash zeds are a smear"

So at least off perk, having more shots in the combat shotgun would be beneficial. I know the very rare times I use the medic class the medic shotgun ammo goes by at a rate that shocks and horrifies my support due to the whole penetration situation.

It's been quite a while since I played KF1, even longer since I touched the KF1 combat shotgun. Does this mean the wiki is wrong when it says the KF1 combat shotgun weighs the same, does the same damage, but reloads slower than the stock shotgun?

Right. For some reason stuffing each shell into the tube on the combat shotgun is slower than reloading the stock shotgun. Painfully slow, even.

Aren't they separated by utility though? The pump action/double barrel being more of a street sweeper (unless you jam the dB in a scrake's mouth, of course) while the combat shotgun/AA are more the "keep loaded on the side and magdump into fleshpounds" types

That is how I treat them, at least

You spawn so late in that you can't afford an AA12 for Hans and nobody is sparing dosh. And you take it over the Medic Shotgun.

Gonna be honest, if I was support and was banned form the AA12, I'd go Boomstick(4)/Medic shotgun(7) because medic shotgun can heal good on top of magdumping. That still leaves 4 weight. Enough room for a Crovel, Varmint Rifle, or Medic SMG if you had money leftover.

Yeah it was really bad in KF1. At least in KF2 it actually pretty much is a straight upgrade of the SG 500, except it's still not worth 1100 dosh + not being able to carry an AA-12.

I've seen it.
Making new characters seems very daunting this time around, especially since each character has their own unique voice and responds to borderline everything, including map details. We most likely won't get the overabundance of characters that we did in KF1, so a lot of old favorites will probably never return.

I'm more worried about if, in the future when more maps are added, that they can't or just don't bother to get the old voice actors in touch and most characters will have nothing to comment on about the map.

Yeah that's the kind of clever, creative idea that would improve the game at little cost. Even if it's not full-speed, some faster stuff in zed-time would be awesome.

Though it may end up being in the kung-fu class instead. So they appear to be moving unbelievably fast.
