There's no great choice there. Either way people will suffer, you just choose who. Free him and he'll save the orphans but kill the nearby villagers, and there will be a domino effect that leads to the death of the Baron and his wife. Kill him and the villagers and Baron live, although not in the happiest circumstances, but the orphans will be eaten by the witches.

Every bit of dialogue that involves the trolls throughout the game is the best comedy writing. also Bart the Troll is amazingly adorable :allears:

One of the more comical bits for me was the part where one troll calls another one ugly and says "what? don't make that face at me, we both know it" in their broken speech. Or the quest where you meet a troll who joined the Radovid army, gets told to guard the boats and takes the boats and turns them into his own fort. "Boats Guard Boats" :patriot:

Wasn't it that the trolls were saying that they are the monsters and witchers kill monsters, then the other troll was mad or upset at being called a monster or realizing it?

I'm pretty sure this skill just doesn't work. I have 5/5 (so 100% less damage) and still get wrecked in the middle / start / end of my dodge & roll animations.

I failed a pretty random sidequest in the farmlands of Novigrad (I think it was Flown the Coop, something about a monster stealing chickens). Since I wasn't doing anything main quest related for a long time before I noticed, I suspect it was related to a nearby quest to deal with a monster on behalf of some halfling mead brewers.

The completionist in me is a little miffed - I had older saves but would have to roll back a LOT of Gwent progress. Honestly though it makes me intrigued about how those quests must tie together, and it's high on my to-do list for the next playthrough even though I know it must be something minor. I'd rather have quests that intertwine and occasionally whiff and fail one, rather than having everything being completely standalone and static from every other part of the game.

I've "failed" other quests by being too hasty about turning them in, and only later stumbling across a bit of evidence that complicates the issue. Makes me wonder how many of the most straightforward quests had layers that I was just oblivious to. It adds a lot of richness to the game and discourages anal-retentive checklist style play all at once.

The same thing happen to me, halfing quest screwed that one up. I did find the children from it, and the quest moved from failed to incomplete, but I couldn't turn it in. Incomplete is better than failed for me.

Yeah, something like that. It was part of the Lambert mission at Kaer Morhen. It was just a nice moment that gave me this feeling of "man, even these trolls have a bit of a personality to them"

Regarding that mob boss: I let Junior live. As I saw it, his wonderful lifestyle choices were enabled by him being a mob boss, by stripping him of his power he lost all of it and the other mob bosses probably wouldn't let him live anyway. Turns out ENDING SPOILERS I was mostly right - Ciri goes to visit him to "thank" him for his help and he's a shell of a man, broken and without any semblance of his former self. As Ciri says herself, this is betterENDING SPOILERS.

I guess I can see where you're coming from but for me, if the quest is going to be impossible to complete, I appreciate being told up front so I can get on with my life. Impossible quests that eat up space and demand attention in the active part of my quest log drive me BATSHIT INSANE. It seems to only work for forward rolls at the moment. So you can get a bit of use out of it rolling towards large/elementa type enemies, but it's still not worth the points overall

I've found that armor schematic in Novigrad in a (very minor quest spoiler) quest where Geralt says he smells dead human, you follow the smell to a corpse, find a key, follow to some Cleaver men hideout. It was in one of the chests, I think the one with the key . I'm not sure the schematic is tied to that quest, it may simply drop once you're in a level range.

I suspect the DLC is stuff that was under par or simply not finished before retail, rather than content they decided to make after the game was done. Good PR but I do think the effort they've put in is a bit overblown. :v:

Yeah, I was also wondering about this, because I definitely take plenty of damage while dodging. It's a shame because there are some fights in which it would be incredibly helpful I was just attacked by three flatulant trolls who farted throughout the whole fight. It was pretty tough to still attack while dodging all three of them. Except for the dodge ability screwing me over, it was a hectic, fun and hilarious fight.

Question for a very late game main quest: let's say I don't complete the Now or Never quest for Triss because I'm a terrible human being, would that mean the option to have Zoltan bring some alcohol to get the guards drunk while attempting to free Margarita with Yennefer would become available? The dialogue certainly seem to hint at that.

I'm sure even regular dodge without that skill has some invulnerability frames, plenty of times I dodged/rolled straight through the attack and got the message about being hit for 0 damage.

To add to that, a little later on you can also buy saddlebags with a whopping +100 carry weight. They're available from a trader in the Novigrad slums, in that one closed-off alley that you unlock while looking for Triss. They cost around 1000 crowns, though.

I still like the other ending more, when you visit him with him being dead, dudu took over his identity and crime empire and turned it into as massively profitable and prosperous and also completely legal and above ground trading business, since dudu needed a new 'main' identity that wouldn't be at risk of being outed as a doppler with his new scar as a giveaway. His gang members are totally OK going legal, since they get twice as much pay as they did before with the new massive profits. So he took Junior's terrible life and death and turned it into something positive

I've completely forgot about it! Game even reminds you at least twice about that doppler mechanic.. Maybe the influence fades over time? It's mentioned that the (light book/beginning of Novigrad spoiler) Doppler that was a head of temple guard was pretty chill dude and helpful toward magic users and nonhumans. It's safe to assume that the dude he replaced wouldn't end up in the post if he possesed those qualities.
