HappyHippo posted:I've reread Clinton's comments again and while at first I thought they were bad I'm not sure what to make of them any more. Someone pointed out that the "process" alluded to in the bold part could be referring to the sort of Republican/right wing media witch hunt like the one that brought down ACORN. If not that I have no idea what that sentence means. That's kinda what triangulation is, though. The entire goddamn point of that sort of vague non-position is to make it easy for a listener to imprint his own biases and assume she's in agreement with him or her.

Donald Trump posted:I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within 72-hours if a potential gun owner has a record. What do you think about that?

You may be right, as the field thins he will gain support. Take away Cruz, Paul, Carson or Christie and he gets most of those votes. That puts him in the 40's. He also is drawing an interest to the Primary process that never happens. The extra people that show up to vote at the primaries, (the ones that normally stay home and wait for the general) they are most likely voting for Trump. He is the unapologetic alpha male, when is the last time we had one for president. Obama, nope Bush, nope Clinton, a little till he got caught banging interns in his office Bush 41, not so much Reagan, yep It's Batshit crazy, but I can see him being nominated.

I normally don't subscribe to accelerationism but I will vote for Trump in any and every capacity I am able. There would need to be a revival of epic poetry in order to accurately recount the story of America's tragic demise at the hands of a golem constructed from the essence of American greed and bluster. It will be the most amazing, and possibly last, thing I ever witness.

Jesus. I'm in for Bernie all the way but I kind of understand the like for Trump. He's racist as poo poo, but he's honest and I think everyone is tired of having politicians constantly lie to them. I know exactly where he stands and he'll stick to it, even if I personally disagree. That's kind of refreshing.

I disagree. I think he's just saying whatever he thinks the base wants to hear, in his unique style. It doesn't take a genius to know that republicans hate Mexicans and China, and a tough guy approach to the daesh.

Who exactly are those people who say they'll vote for Jindal or Pataki or O'Malley or Webb or whatever? Are they contrarians? Have they genuinely looked up those candidates and genuinely agree with them? Are they just picking a random name from the list?

Nessus posted:I think people have been convinced politicians constantly lie to and betray them, while overlooking exactly how often every other kind of authority figure does the same drat thing. Trump is full of poo poo from top to bottom. You're reacting to his well honed presentation of confidence. This is probably true, but even if his confidence is just projecting a false-truthfulness, it's still resonating with people who are either burned by politics or racist shits themselves. I don't agree, I kind of hate everything Trump stands for, but I understand.

Have they genuinely looked up those candidates and genuinely agree with them? Are they just picking a random name from the list? Jindal probably has a floor of support among people who really want to see an Indian-American president. Otherwise there are probably quite a few people from the home cities/districts/states of these candidates who have been following their careers for a while and are rooting for them to continue to succeed.
