If an actual creature who originates on Mars does not show up at some point in this movie and rip Matt Damon apart with it's writhing mandibles, I'm going to be very upset.

Too bad for you, the title refers to Damon's character who will prove he is better than Neil Armstrong by inventing the pirate-ninja measurement unit while on Mars.

Here's a movie that probably has aliens, though.

I know it's a dumb thing to continue on with, but it still is really uprising people would pronounce it like bi-opic rather than bio-pic. I always assumed the word came from smashing 'biography' and 'picture' together so that is how you would say it.

To turn back to posters, I can't remember how it showed up in my amazon searches but Cherry 2000 has an absolutely killer poster.

The movie seems pretty lovely, though in a way I enjoy, but that poster can't get up on my wall soon enough.

I never noticed that my pronunciation changes so radically between bi-og-ra-phy and bi-o-gra-phi-cal. Same with bi-ol-o-gy and bi-o-lo-gi-cal.

Either way, I say bi-o-pic because it doesn't rhyme with myopic. Also because it's a compound of "bio" and "pic," at which point "bio" is not a prefix but an entire word and should have its pronunciation maintained.

edit: I'm sure that somebody will provide an example of a simple compound word that changes the pronunciation of the roots and I will be hoist by my own petard but who cares
