Now imagine that every part of Russia outside of Moscow & St. Petersberg are full to the brim with Red Staters, and you've got a good picture of the Russian electorate.

If the Russians send their volunteers to Syria instead of their conscripts, they can avoid a whole lot of civil strife. If they keep their commitment to Syria small, they also won't have any shortage of volunteers.

Politics itself is disengaging and it takes a ton of effort to believe in the Hope and Change everyone always talks about, when faced with the reality that our government is full of bickering, grandstanding assholes. It doesn't take much convincing for people to be turned off to politics, all they need to do is turn on the news. Knowing Russians? Quite a lot. The Russians aren't squeamish about War Dead the same way us decadent Westerners are. Not after 25 years of slow asphyxiation from the post-communist nightmare that was the Yeltsin years. Going on Holy War to Syria is practically a vacation compared to the daily life of your average Vatnik.

Disengagement is a powerful tool that the Right can exploit though, because they're always going to be more motivated from the perspective of their fantastical nightmare world. It's why Republicans keep winning midterms, and Democrats keep electing triangulating Third Wayers instead of Leftists.

People posting online poll results as if they matter, etc. etc. A lot of Sanders presence online is young people, and people who have little idea of what politics means and entails. There's a lot of bizzare assumptions they make on spurious reasoning and it's been happening a lot on SA as well.

That and the mocking and completely bizzare response of a bunch of progressives telling black protesters to shut up and how to do activism right back when the Black Lives Matter thing happened and the really harsh gendered attacks against Hillary.

Much like with every politician, most of Sanders loudest, most energized supporters are really dumb and/or really perspectiveless.

Yeah no, their trying to get you to realize you're doing the same thing you're complaining about honestly watching two white candidates supporters call each other racists is getting old as a non white person.

Also not are of Bernies supporters are young so going eh you're young and don't know how the world works mannnnnn is a cop it out. There's plenty of legit points without resorting to bs name calling or as Hillary is familiar with race baiting to win.

edit: She's improved on race alot but she's going to win the primary and get black votes because she's the Democratic establishment candidate. A lot of black folk in particular haven't forgotten all the wink wink nudge nudge racist poo poo she pulled or that weak rear end All lives matter poo poo either (which she smartly shut the hell up about and let Bernie handle that)

Put it this way if Clinton wasn't running O Malley would be getting the majority of black votes. Does this make him magically not poo poo on issues that affect black voters? No. But he'd get their votes because Black voters mostly vote D. The whole argument on whether or not Clinton or Sanders actually care about minorities in general and black people in particular is sadly meaningless as the nominee is guaranteed to get their vote because they aren't Republicans.

Unless they go full Klan they'll still be better than the Republican candidate

Suburban dads who like going to the gun range and are wary of immigration, but not to Trump levels. Russians have had a few generations straight of watching their countrymen die in droves for assorted government causes. I'm not saying they're going home and beating off to picture of the war deaths, but if something were to spark a sudden national demand to end the war in the face of government oppression doing everything it can to not just stop any movements like that, but actively PUNISH the people involved, it would have to be orders of magnitude worse than 'helicopters being blown up'.

Now Bernie's the kinda awkward grandpa who sometimes goes "WHAT" when you ask him a question, and Webb's the grandpa that casually dropped his 'nam kill count over supper and just stared at you the rest of the night. Both are grandpas, but one is welcome back into your house and the other maybe needs to go to a home.

No, this is a major point. For Hillary to compare her situation of working through college to what students face to today is completely out of touch and insulting.

Her solution, student make-work jobs, is typical of the republican mindset, and typical of the Clinton's actions on welfare during Bill's presidency. There is no evidence at all that results would be better if students were forced to spend an additional 10 hours week doing a low wage job. It's an off-the-top-of-her-head suggestion that accomplishes nothing except appeasing people that hate any form of government assistance.

Good point. While her "10 hours a week" obviously came from out of nowhere, it wasn't even an original idea, but a rehashing of a failed program that doesn't address skyrocketing tuition costs at all.
