Due to some of the restrictions in getting the land from farmers back in the day and continually to this day, highway 2 near Red Deer is pretty loving close together. It's part of the reason why the most recent attempt at a solution to collisions on the highway wasn't, "let's spread the roads apart more" but "throw up a literal fence between the highways so instead of head on collisions we have more vehicle damage". The stretch to the south of Red Deer leading to Innisfail has Antler Hill, a really steep climb that fucks people up because semis have to gun it to make it up the hill and people don't react to them speeding up properly or give them space to work. And both stretches are easy to slide off into the ditch. Most of the time the ditches aren't deep at all, they're nearly level with the road. This means that once it snows you have to guess whether you're on pavement or about to hit the ditch. Low visibility and Chinooks later in the winter months melting snow down that freezes at night into ice, usually black ice, it's a really bad combination. These are some of the things I notice as a road rep/driver in Red Deer and the Central Alberta area and having family driving around the area to make their living.

From what I recall from the 80s, Indonesian women weren't exactly repressed to the same level as Arabs or Pakistanis but I definitely won't tell you to your face that they had equal footing in society to men. If you are chinese in Malaysia, I would say women had almost the same opportunities and rights as men. Not quite western levels of course. Because the clearly can't win, so they either negotiate or they die when the US sacrifices them in a bid to get help wiping out daesh. The difference between Assad and daesh is that Assad killed his own people. Daesh would not be such a big deal if they had stuck to killing Syrians and Iraqis.

One more point, when the majority of your truck drivers in a province work in oil it becomes hard to keep snow clearing crews on staff. People I know from Ottawa say that when snow hits it's gone because crews are called up quick. In the red deer area it takes more time to call people in. Snow removal is a big loving deal in this area as a result and I'd love for the city to get off its asses and develop a better strategy for it.

It's not the screening. It's the logistics of getting them here and settled. Sorry to burst your paranoid fantasy. Also, I'll upload the link after I get back to my computer, but a leak of documents at the CIA showed that up to 90% of those killed in drone strikes were not directly targeted. The logic they operate on is incredibly vague and simply being in the geographic area targeted by drones can be enough to justify a strike, based on what the docs say. I dunno when there's an emergency the attitude is "women and children first" and it's not like there's a shortage of people to bring over. Single men are maybe not more likely to be terrorists but they are definitely more likely to become petty criminals when they come here, can't find work, and don't have any family to care for / be cared by.

A lot of people saw this as borderline ridiculous and logistically/security wise impossible but were rebuked for reasons. To try to actually meet his deadline he then said, no single males allowed, which is stupid in its own right. The original number thrown out was 100 million dollars, or just over, the actual amount is now 687 million dollars plus, that's a huge difference. Also with that it now seems that the government is only sponsoring 15,000 people for that 687 million, and the rest will be privately sponsored. It's not the biggest thing in the world but still makes him look bad.

The campaign promise was 25,000 government sponsored which would add to the private sponsorships. Now it's 15,000 government plus the private sponsorships. This should be easier to explain than the middle class tax cut. Put another way, it's the exact same logic that Harper used to say he brought in 2,300 refugees and everybody got mad at him because only 200 were government sponsored.
