Yeah, I think people who kill over material possessions are clearly more of a threat to society than the people taking said things, most likely due to being impoverished and resorting to selling stolen goods. Seems pretty damned reasonable. I've never understood castle doctrine. Shooting in self-defense is vague enough as it is, shooting because somebody took your tv is downright murderous.

I know people are jumping all over the color of skin/content of character quote, but there's a big difference between judging someone by the color of your skin and having the character to realize that your experience might not match someone else's and that you could, in fact, have benefitted from the color of your skin unknowingly, and keeping that in mind when you deal with other people in the world. There's no such thing as a "post-racial" society. The term is dumb, and whoever made it up should be punched. We're certainly in a "post-really obvious racism" society (though there are plenty of things that make that hard to say), but just because schools are no longer segregated, black people are allowed to eat wherever they want and drink from the same drinking fountains, and have the right to vote doesn't mean that they're going to be treated equally. I think it's incredibly short sighted for someone to think that everyone is perfectly equal now, but a lot of people think that way because they don't know enough to say otherwise, and something like this is the perfect way to enlighten them. Some examples of evil left-wing indoctrination: quote:What is Your Privilege? Along with these there are a bunch of seminars about talking about race, some about people who have experienced racism in the North Shore area (gasp.), and a lot of students sharing their own experiences. These seminars have things that everyone needs to hear, not just high schoolers, but there's still hope for young people, so getting them while they're in school is the way to go. There's also a shitload of Ta-Nehisi Coates readings because he's loving dope and is a good writer about this very subject.

He shot both of them when they were running away, and probably shot one of them in the back as he lay there injured. The shotgun was unregistered because he'd had his shotgun license taken away after firing at a car of a man who he claimed had been stealing apples off his trees. He didn't go to prison for the illegal gun (incredibly), and managed somehow to get his verdict reduced from murder to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, and served only 5 years.

Coworker shared this stupid screenshot this morning: So let me get this straight: Your son knowingly purchased a discount fare with a discount airline that is notorious for up-charging every single thing they can possibly get away with (with checked and carry-on baggage fees being well-documented as making up 40+% of their revenues), and got pissed when they treated him like every other passenger? And then you thought that complaining to the airline would make any difference? If there is any U.S. airline that cares less about bad press and customer satisfaction than Spirit does, I have yet to find it. This sounds so whiny and petulant...I'm sorry, but your son's military service doesn't entitle him to free poo poo. Fly Delta next time.

My mom came so close to a breakthough the other morning, then at the last second managed to completely miss the point. There's a little bit of back story needed. My sister is kind of autistic. It's technically not autism but for the sake of argument you can call it that. She's had a difficult time holding down a job due in part to her situation, and my mom has been trying for ages to get her federal help. I've seen first hand how much my mom has tried with this, and I completely understand her frustration. My mom was going to a lawyer to try and help with some paperwork, because my sister recently got a pretty good retail job, and with the christmas season she actually made out pretty well. The government wanted to cut her food stamps because she made too much to qualify anymore, but now they are dropping her hours since the holiday rush is over. My mom started complaining that they made it too hard for her to get assistance, and just as I was about to say something along the lines of "just think how hard it would be for people who don't have parents like you guys to help out with that whole thing" she started talking about how welfare queens know how to game the system and if my sister was a slut and cranked out a bunch of kids she'd be fine. So loving close... AFewBricksShy fucked around with this message at 19:33 on Jan 13, 2016 |

But since we have people waiting in ambush, shooting people who surrendered in the back of the head, shooting people fleeing from their house and shooting people leaving from other peoples house in the hopes of killing people under the cover of castle doctrine it really does need to go away. Here's my response: quote:Imagine it from the perspective of a transgender person. All they want to do is enter a locker room, and not be judged for who they are. No one should gender police and tell someone "you can't be in the women's locker room, you look too butch" for any reason. Transgender people just want to use the locker room to change their clothes. A man entering a woman's locker room to expose himself will still be able to be arrested for sexual harassment, because exposing yourself to a minor in a sexual way is not exclusively a male crime. The reality is, this law is about protecting transgendered people, who are incredibly marginalized (over 50% of them attempt suicide in their life), and one of the reasons they feel that way is due to being treated like an outsider. The situation this person describes is something incredibly rare, and if I were to bet, this sort of thing of a man entering a woman's locker room to expose himself to minors would happen as much without the law that it would with it.

There are trans-women who you'd never even suspect. So what should be do, have everyone drop their pants for a sex-check? How do you handle children? Trans-people can be of all ages, should we now sex-check your children?
