One of my friends from high school posted this link on facebook about my old high school New Trier :
http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2016/01/12/racial-identity-mlk-new-trier/

She then proceeded to give this scalding hot garbage take:

A class called "To Pimp a Butterfly," another is "Dear Mom and Dad, what race am I?"
What do you think about this? Our local high school is requiring kids go to school on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day to take "workshops" and "seminars" to examine their "white privilege" and "examine racial stereotypes of Middle Easterners in film, television, news, and current events and how these stereotypes contribute to the Islamophobic climate. We will use the 'Pyramid of Hate' model to assess the escalation of anti-Muslim rhetoric, profiling, and hate crimes."
These are just two examples from over 59 classes.
While schools like Evantston Township, Stevenson High School, and Maine South are observing next Monday by closing school and/or serving their communities, our high school is spending next Monday focusing not on the "content of character" but on the "color of skin." Dr. King would be appalled.
As the article states, the program "appears to violate the policies of the New Trier Township High School District, which require a balanced presentation of political issues: 'We charge the faculty with the obligation to help our students identify arguments or preachments which are demonstrably unbalanced by bias, hate, calumny, distortion of facts, or ignorance of or indifference to the laws of evidence and the requirements of proof.'
"District personnel are also required to 'Refrain from using school contracts and privileges to promote partisan politics, sectarian religious views, or personal agendas of any kind. Foster critical thinking and development of alternative views.'
"Yet the program for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is shaped by radical left-wing ideology. There are no presentations from conservative perspectives, such as seminars that question the idea of 'systemic racism” itself.'"

I work in the North Shore, and I kinda wish I could go to some of those seminars, they look really interesting. I know people are jumping all over the color of skin/content of character quote, but there's a big difference between judging someone by the color of your skin and having the character to realize that your experience might not match someone else's and that you could, in fact, have benefitted from the color of your skin unknowingly, and keeping that in mind when you deal with other people in the world.

There's no such thing as a "post-racial" society. The term is dumb, and whoever made it up should be punched. We're certainly in a "post-really obvious racism" society (though there are plenty of things that make that hard to say), but just because schools are no longer segregated, black people are allowed to eat wherever they want and drink from the same drinking fountains, and have the right to vote doesn't mean that they're going to be treated equally. I think it's incredibly short sighted for someone to think that everyone is perfectly equal now, but a lot of people think that way because they don't know enough to say otherwise, and something like this is the perfect way to enlighten them.

Some examples of evil left-wing indoctrination:

quote:

What is Your Privilege?

Participants will walk through a simulation of what it is like to lose privilege and view others who have it. Participants will be given an identity of a different race and will be given the hardships that encompass that race.

Unconscious Perceptions of Race

How does the media you choose and the community in which you live both reflect and influence the way you look at race. Join us as we look at our automatic thinking processes, how it influences the way we look at race and consider how we might adapt those processes.

Mass Incarceration

While America comprises roughly 5% of the world's population, it accounts for 25% of the world's prison population. Why? This session will explore the causes and effects of mass incaceration as well as its realtionship to race by using the work of Bryan Stevenson, Michelle Alexander, Ta Nehisi Coates and others to better understand how and why America's prison population has risen dramatically in the past few decades.

The Zip Code Effect: How Illinois School Funding Perpetuates Oppression

What would your life be like if you were born in a different Illinois zip code? What would your school be like in that zip code? Would that school offer the number of electives, sports and extracurriculars that New Trier offers? Would you have an adviser to check in on you? Come to this session if you want to explore the savage inequalities in Illinois school funding and how we can fix the system!

Uncovering Your Thoughts. Why do you think that?

This session will explore how racial biases are subconsciously formed throughout our lives. Our experiences form our thoughts, opinions and biases starting at a very young age. We will explore some of these biases and start to uncover why we think the way we think, and work to challenge these ideas.

Intersections: Where Race and Gender Connect

This session will be led by representatives from the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Gender and Sexuality Center. The session will examine the intersections between race and gender and how each impacts one’s identity.

Racism: Where is it hiding and how does is survive?

In an allegedly post-racist era, we take an in depth look at the foundation and creation of racism and how it continues to survive in our world today.

Along with these there are a bunch of seminars about talking about race, some about people who have experienced racism in the North Shore area (gasp.), and a lot of students sharing their own experiences. These seminars have things that everyone needs to hear, not just high schoolers, but there's still hope for young people, so getting them while they're in school is the way to go. There's also a shitload of Ta-Nehisi Coates readings because he's loving dope and is a good writer about this very subject.

Tony Martin shot the two men who broke into his house with an illegally-modified, unregistered shotgun. He shot both of them when they were running away, and probably shot one of them in the back as he lay there injured. The shotgun was unregistered because he'd had his shotgun license taken away after firing at a car of a man who he claimed had been stealing apples off his trees. He didn't go to prison for the illegal gun (incredibly), and managed somehow to get his verdict reduced from murder to manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility, and served only 5 years.

You could point out that intruders who get shot while actively breaking in in the UK get told "that's the chance you take" and the defender gets told they did nothing wrong, whereas shooting fleeing people in the back gets you imprisoned.

Compare and contrast Tony Martin with:

Got a local one for you all, some mega transphobia ahead!

quote:

Men allowed now in women's restrooms and locker-rooms in Washington state, and it is illegal to even question them or ask them to leave. Even if children are present.

So I spent last weekend in Seattle guarding the ladies room doors when my girls, including my six-year-old, would use the bathroom in a restaurant or in a public place or something.

The new rule states in Washington that it is illegal to ask a man to use a separate facility for the benefit of women and children who might be uncomfortable. It further states, once a man begins to undress in the women’s locker room a person who “expresses concern or discomfort…should be escorted to a separate or gender-neutral facility" and the naked man has a right to stay, naked, in the women's room. This applies to ALL businesses and ALL schools.

So, all you women and children who are uncomfortable with the naked guy over there? “Please come with me and leave him alone.” He has a right to be there in the women's room and you do not.

It is illegal to ask “unwelcome personal questions about an individual’s sexual orientation, gender expression or gender identity, or transgender status.”

The commission provides no guidance to the public about how they are supposed to know which questions are unwelcome before they ask them.

It is also illegal for a business to deliberately “misuse” someone’s preferred pronoun. If a man believes he is a woman, but you refer to him as a “he” anyway, he can sue you.

However, you should be careful not to ask questions about which pronoun he prefers. Remember, if that’s an “unwelcome question” he can sue you for that.

Sexual predators look for opportunity. This provides it.

If I was a lady, I would never set foot in a YMCA again. Guys are exhibitionists. So a man can walk into a ladies room and expose himself and if you question him or demand that he leave, that is illegal, he is protected and has a right to undress in front of you, even if you're alone. You can be sued and charged.

If a man would have tried by go past me into the ladies room while my daughter was in there, I would have cold-cocked him right on the spot. Yeah, over my dead body, and his.

America is so insulated it thinks nothing matters anymore. Liberalism is insanity. Goodbye, Seattle. Go #%$ yourself.

Got this mindblower this morning:

quote:

Amazing to me how much I had forgotten!

When Bill Clinton was president, he allowed Hillary to assume authority over a health care reform. Even after threats and intimidation, she couldn't even get a vote in a democratic controlled congress. This fiasco cost the American taxpayers about $13 million in cost for studies, promotion, and other efforts.

Then President Clinton gave Hillary authority over selecting a female attorney general. Her first two selections were Zoe Baird and Kimba Wood - both were forced to withdraw their names from consideration.

Next she chose Janet Reno - husband Bill described her selection as "my worst mistake." Some may not remember that Reno made the decision to gas David Koresh and the Branch Davidian religious sect in Waco, Texas resulting in dozens of deaths of women and children.

Husband Bill allowed Hillary to make recommendations for the head of the Civil Rights Commission. Lani Guanier was her selection. When a little probing led to the discovery of Ms. Guanier's radical views, her name had to be withdrawn from consideration.

Apparently a slow learner, husband Bill allowed Hillary to make some more recommendations. She chose former law partners Web Hubbel for the Justice Department, Vince Foster for the White House staff, and William Kennedy for the Treasury Department. Her selections went well: Hubbel went to prison, Foster (presumably) committed suicide, and Kennedy was forced to resign.

Many younger voters will have no knowledge of "Travelgate." Hillary wanted to award unfettered travel contracts to Clinton friend Harry Thompson - and the White House Travel Office refused to comply. She managed to have them reported to the FBI and fired. This ruined their reputations, cost them their jobs, and caused a thirty-six month investigation. Only one employee, Billy Dale was charged with a crime, and that of the enormous crime of mixing personal and White House funds. A jury acquitted him of any crime in less than two hours.

Still not convinced of her ineptness, Hillary was allowed to recommend a close Clinton friend, Craig Livingstone, for the position of Director of White House security. When Livingstone was investigated for the improper access of about 900 FBI files of Clinton enemies (Filegate) and the widespread use of drugs by White House staff, suddenly Hillary and the president denied even knowing Livingstone, and of course, denied knowledge of drug use in the White House. Following this debacle, the FBI closed its White House Liaison Office after more than thirty years of service to seven presidents.

Next, when women started coming forward with allegations of sexual harassment and rape by Bill Clinton, Hillary was put in charge of the "bimbo eruption" and scandal defense. Some of her more notable decisions in the debacle was:
She urged her husband not to settle the Paula Jones lawsuit. After the Starr investigation they settled with Ms. Jones.

She refused to release the Whitewater documents, which led to the appointment of Ken Starr as Special Prosecutor. After $80 million dollars of taxpayer money was spent, Starr's investigation led to Monica Lewinsky, which led to Bill lying about and later admitting his affairs.

Hillary's devious game plan resulted in Bill losing his license to practice law for 'lying under oath' to a grand jury and then his subsequent impeachment by the House of Representatives.

Hillary avoided indictment for perjury and obstruction of justice during the Starr investigation by repeating, "I do not recall," "I have no recollection," and "I don't know" a total of 56 times while under oath.

After leaving the White House, Hillary was forced to return an estimated $200,000 in White House furniture, china, and artwork that she had stolen.
What a swell party - ready for another four or eight year of this type low-life mess?

Now we are exposed to the destruction of possibly incriminating emails while Hillary was Secretary of State and the "pay to play" schemes of the Clinton Foundation - we have no idea what shoe will fall next. But to her loyal fans - "what difference does it make?"

Electing Hillary Clinton president would be like granting Satan absolution and giving him the keys to heaven!

Legalize COMMON sense.

My mom came so close to a breakthough the other morning, then at the last second managed to completely miss the point.

There's a little bit of back story needed. My sister is kind of autistic. It's technically not autism but for the sake of argument you can call it that.

She's had a difficult time holding down a job due in part to her situation, and my mom has been trying for ages to get her federal help. I've seen first hand how much my mom has tried with this, and I completely understand her frustration.

My mom was going to a lawyer to try and help with some paperwork, because my sister recently got a pretty good retail job, and with the christmas season she actually made out pretty well. The government wanted to cut her food stamps because she made too much to qualify anymore, but now they are dropping her hours since the holiday rush is over.

My mom started complaining that they made it too hard for her to get assistance, and just as I was about to say something along the lines of "just think how hard it would be for people who don't have parents like you guys to help out with that whole thing" she started talking about how welfare queens know how to game the system and if my sister was a slut and cranked out a bunch of kids she'd be fine.

You rack a shell into the chamber, then inch toward the door and open it.

In the darkness, you make out two shadows.

One holds something that looks like a crowbar.

When the intruder brandishes it as if to strike, you raise the shotgun and fire.

The blast knocks both thugs to the floor.

You flip on a light switch next to you to get a better assessment of what's happening and are horrified by the sight of your fifteen year old daughter lying still in a pool of her own blood.

The "crowbar" was just an umbrella.

The other "thug" is her boyfriend, sobbing on the ground and clutching his bleeding side.

quote:

Imagine it from the perspective of a transgender person. All they want to do is enter a locker room, and not be judged for who they are. No one should gender police and tell someone "you can't be in the women's locker room, you look too butch" for any reason. Transgender people just want to use the locker room to change their clothes. A man entering a woman's locker room to expose himself will still be able to be arrested for sexual harassment, because exposing yourself to a minor in a sexual way is not exclusively a male crime. The reality is, this law is about protecting transgendered people, who are incredibly marginalized (over 50% of them attempt suicide in their life), and one of the reasons they feel that way is due to being treated like an outsider. The situation this person describes is something incredibly rare, and if I were to bet, this sort of thing of a man entering a woman's locker room to expose himself to minors would happen as much without the law that it would with it.

edit: people might want the link I posted (I liked it, I thought it does a decent job explaining) http://www.bustle.com/articles/109779-5-tips-for-explaining-a-transgender-family-to-your-kid

I think a big reason is they (this woman) can't separate gender from sex. They think that by talking about transgender to their kids they're gonna have to talk about a transgender person's reassignment surgery and they get all :byodame: "UGH, THAT'S ICKY!! THAT'S NOT SOMETHING U TALK TO A 3 YEAR OLD ABOUT!!! WHY THE GAYS HAVE TO BE SO DISGUSTING AND FILTHY?!" :byodame:

So did you respond with, "Yes, you're small minded"?

My kids are too young to learn about aging, disability or death. I don't want to explain it to them so I want a legal shield that will keep old people, disabled people and sick people from appearing in public.

If prior cases are any precedent, they're going to be inspired to seek out enlightenment when that strategy fails.

Ehhh I'm not that much of a dick. I knew her okay my freshman year (she was close mutual friends of my college roommate), but after that year I haven't seen her in person again. Purposefully saying "yeah, you're dumb" will only make people dig their heels in, and I'm more about changing minds.
