I've never had them activate unless one of my dudes was in range to attack or one time cause I used a battle-scanner to find it.

My game keeps crashing on me, which is too bad. Setting the affinity higher via the task manager helped my performance a lot, but the game seems to crash reliably after a few hours of play. Probably a memory leak, I'd guess.

When you killed all the other enemies or activate a scanner ability/grenade.

I think you get story advancement for completing specific objectives. So far, I've just gotten them from skulljacking objectives, of which I think there are just two, but I haven't done the special missions you get from the resulting research and stuff. Oh! I forgot dark events. There's a dark event that just advances the doom clock, so keep an eye out for that if you want to stretch for time.

So if I just severely delay that proving grounds requirement, I'll stop the doom clock?

Think there's a bug with bladestorm and mimic beacons. Just had my ranger get a bladestorm on a guy like 20 tiles away as he ran past the spot where my mimic beacon had died. Please don't tell firaxis, this is awesome.

I think if they are the last enemy on the map, they will activate.

Also, I made contact with a region with a blacksite, but I don't get the mission to take it down. How in the world do you actually find it?

I'm kind of surprised it's not like "hey are you sure you want to do this?" but i'm also not super surprised. Besides, you should always keep seperate saves as you try out new mods.

Even hilariously anti-mod poo poo like the Frostbite engine (Dragon Age Inquisition) is okay with disabling mods. Don't forget that this game hyped up the modding and being designed for mods almost from the start and then when it's released it turns out that if you change your mind about a mod you have to give up your save, it's hilarious to me that people are trying to defend this haha

No. I think the clock starts after the first month regardless of what you do. Completing some objectives will remove pips from the clock, slowing it down.

Yeah, i had my savegames be unusable for a few minutes cause of that, but i think the OP changed the name back.

yeah it's super lovely. Fortunately you should be able to simply delete the files inside the mod while still technically "loading" it, for stuff like the free camera mod or various .ini edits. Not sure how that'd work for more advanced stuff however.

Iron Rose, are you having any issues with the mod tools? It keeps saying it can't find some necessary component when I try to open them. I'm thinking this might be because they're in two different locations, because I put the game proper on my SSD but not the tools. I think I might need to move the game over the my not SSD because it feels like the SSD isn't helping much either.

You have to manually install the redistributables from the binaries folder in the SDK

Well, that's indicative of that the barrier that makes your savegames unavaliable can be disabled at least, but who knows what havok it wrecks on the savegame.

That's normal. If there's somebody within movement range to attack on the alien phase, they shift and attack. It'd be weirder if they shifted without being able to hit you.

Tae posted:

I have no idea what this means. Like, trying to glitch the game when the Avatar Project first prompts by going to the Proving Grounds on your ship? I've started over a couple times, and every time the Avatar Project timer shows up shortly after the first supply drop shows up, so right after the first month. Nothing the player does triggers it to show up.

Everyone got out that turn. I can only imagine the aliens impotently shaking their fists in rage at the retreating dot of my Skyranger in the sky :v:

I got this earlier as well, so I checked around a bit, and it seems it's related to a new entity not initializing properly. Did a Codex Clone, a sectoid/Gatekeeper spawn a zombie, or an Andromedian turn before it hung?

I know xcom is a resistance and will take any help they get but I think they might want to vet rookies a bit more to weed out the uh special ones. Just had a rookie try to shoot an ADVANT trooper, couldn't figure out how to point the gun past the tree she was hiding behind, so fired it in the completely opposite direction. Shot wide indeed, solider :downs:

I've messed up my strategy-level stuff so much I think I'll just start over. Two questions:

1: What does skipping the tutorial lose me? A guaranteed ranger, right?
2: Is there once again an 'optimal' room placement? Looking it seems there isn't and you can get extra usability out of rooms simply by upgrading and assigning an extra person there, but I just want to check.

Someone else mentioned it too, poo poo be whack yo

speaking of poo poo being whack, the game REALLY wanted tri-ace to stay buried in this snake tit:

i had to bring in another person to save him because of course this shot missed. things are functioning a lot better for me today though, missions are giving me pretty decent hit ratings now.

As far as I can tell, starting a new game the first 4 rookies will always be one of each of the classes. Just make sure to get a kill with all of them.

Behold my avatar project progress bar. Because I'm a panicky babby who despises time limits.

If you want to give yourself more avatar project time you just need to change one number in the defaultgamedata.ini.

The .ini is in the your XCOM2 steam directory (something like \common\XCOM 2\XComGame\Config) Just open it up and search for "DoomMaxValue" then you can edit each difficulty level's maximum number of pips in the Avatar project bar. Default is 12, I bumped mine up to 24.
