My favorite track ever, for various reasons, is Metallica's Orion. Is there any band with tracks of the same kind but that don't fall in the (for me) boring Symphonic/Progressive Metal? I'm not a huge fan of Dream Theater for instance.

He hasn't really hinted one way or another, and I can't think of his taste offhand. He's just insistent that they have power metal composition and that you know nothing of you think otherwise. The closest thing to proof he's provided is that they don't sound like Arghoslent.
