You've got a bunch of socially liberal fiscally conservative hawks right around the beltway, which happen to be the bluest areas of the state, and then a bunch of flyover areas that aren't doing to well and are more social conservative and love them some social security. NOVA didn't save Rubio, and I don't MD is going for him either. Eh, but those socially conservative areas are pretty depopulated in Maryland. There are depopulated areas of Virginia, too, but there's a substantial population living outside of the Beltway as well. Not very many people in Maryland live outside of Baltimore, Annapolis, or the Beltway, though. Most of the polls for Maryland that I've seen are a month or more old, though, so I really don't know.

He also said he "Couldn't believe [he] was saying this" on backing Ted Cruz about a week ago, and took it back the very next day.

The absolute funniest situation would be Trump getting 1236 delegates, one short of the number needed to win, and then getting ratfucked out of the nomination.

Are people seriously digging up the Jeff Gannon stuff from a decade ago? As hilarious as it is that they got a male prostitute press credentials to get him in and out of the White House, I'm not sure it's relevant to any current major GOP figures. Karl Rove is a has-been.

The best point to make about Trump re: Florida is that the race is much tighter when you just interview the voting rolls, rather than relying on self-ID.

Patter Song posted:Are people seriously digging up the Jeff Gannon stuff from a decade ago? It plays into what's going on with the Trump thing... Lots of his supporters are Prison Planet types who believe that a cabal of evil elites have been puppet mastering everything since 1776. Jeff Gannon plays into the mythology as many Prison Planet types believe that Jeff Gannon is actually Johnny Gosch; a boy who went missing in the 1980's. The story goes that Gannon/Gosch was kidnapped and turned into a project Monarch sex slave/drug runner for the CIA/elites. Roseanne Barr(yes that Roseanne) told me that this is all real by the way. Not sure which 'alter' or personality was talking at the time though.

Harry Reid was talking about soup lines. And Hillary Clinton was talking about the economy being on the verge of collapse. Yet in the same breath they say that Social Security is rock solid and there's no crisis there. How are you going to work – you've said you are going to reach out to these people – how are you going to work with people who seem to have divorced themselves from reality? EDIT: I'm like 99% convinced that Trump is a legit 9/11 truther at this point so I wouldn't be surprised if he bought the Gannon is Johnny Gosch stuff too.

That's the point...there's a good chance "Talon News" was created specifically to give Gannon an organization to claim he represented. Gannon had no actual journalistic experience whatsoever (well, he claims he edited his high school newspaper) and was shuffled into the press corps for other talents...period websites that he had running advertising his talent as a military-fetish gay prostitute with an 8 inch penis. (I'm kind of amazed I remembered that off the top of my head after a decade, but I checked and that's what he claimed). Anyway, the theory at the time, never definitively proven, was that Gannon used his White House press credentials to gain access to the White House and whore himself out to prominent Bush Administration officials, especially Karl Rove. One day in 2005, Gannon decided to actually try his hand at this "journalism" thing and raised his hand as a Presidential press briefing, and when W. called on him (by name), Gannon asked "How are you going to work with Senate Democratic leaders who seem to have divorced themselves from reality?" Needless to say, this question raised a lot of eyebrows from all the actual journalists in the room and got them to look into Gannon's and Talon News' background.

zoux posted:Has Kasich been polling this well in the midwest states so far or is he peeling support from Marco? I think there might be some genuine strategic voting going on, across the states. Marco and Kasich are swapping support, and I think even some Rubio people are voting for Cruz in places that might stump Trump (LA, KY, Midwest). Impossible to prove, but I have a hard time believing it's a coincidence that Rubio is doing better in Florida, Kasich in Ohio/Michigan, and Cruz in the south/Midwest all at around the same time.
