Yeah, I really wish John Oliver had gotten it, but clearly they didn't expect HBO and/or couldn't react well enough. After watching Full Frontal though, they should have given it to Samantha Bee.

We saw it with Sarah Palin and, though he's failed to fully embrace his fate, we saw it with Chris Christie. Trump is fascinating for the way he remembers grudges and favors. I suspect he won't just be handed the pre-built assembly of GOP functionaries that any other Republican candidate would use but will rather build his own team out of his business, contacts and those who flipped to him early. We've already seen his primary campaign team of Roger Stone and the Bullet Farmer, don't you want to see the full-size Trump Presidential Campaign? The shining stars at the Trump Convention? Dare we dream, the Trump Cabinet? God, Trump's running mate alone is going to make McCain's Palin pick seem like business as usual.

Just because a presidency where the man in charge quits 2 years in because he realizes theres no more rungs to climb and no one likes him can exist doesn't mean it should.

hobbesmaster posted:The "Trump is running as America's first African president" segment was really good at least. I'm not a big daily show person (i liked Craig Kilborn's daily show because i am old and unhinged) but this was insightful and funny. Still not sold on Noah: having a foreigner tell us Americans were are morons is a bit more stinging than a circle jerk of national loathing. However, that was a segment that made the most of him being not American.

I still am shocked that this was a thing that happened. It reminds me of former president Bokassa of the Central African Republic. He gained notoriety when he imprisoned and killed (by personally clubbing their skulls in) a 150+ kids because they protested being forced to buy insanely priced school uniforms manufactured by his wife's company. I wonder if Trump will mandate his goods and services in the same manner.

It seems to me that the type of people who are voting for him aren't usually fans of "The Daily Show" or whatever to begin with, whereas most of the people who are fans of satire aimed at the right will only have an opportunity to vote for or against him in the general election (ie: non-GOP primary voters). e: Case in point: a 62% average unfavorability rating. the chicago tribune, formerly daily tribune, was the arch-conservative newspaper of choice in the golden age of newspaper writing. its owner, Colonel McCormick, was described as "the greatest mind of the fourteenth century". he opposed the new deal and was a staunch isolationist here's some poo poo about him https://books.google.com/books?id=t...epage&q&f=false when truman held up the chicago daily tribune headline DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN it wasn't just 'lol this headline is wrong' - i think anybody politically active in 1948 would've understood the delicious irony of 'gently caress you mccormick you're wrong your paper is trash and the democrats are here for four more years you lovely old gently caress'
