Someone help me out here I'm legitimately curious: Is having to have the space available to reinstall the entire game (28gigs or so) just to apply a 350MB patch common on steam? To be clear, once it's done it frees up all that space. This happens every time and it's pretty annoying.

Payday uses a proprietary compression scheme that Steam doesn't support, so the only way to do a lot of updates is to download a ludicrous amount of data, yes.

So is there anything left for them to implement besides a punch cops in the face and watch them collide into walls tree?

The main menu open beta is pretty unexciting. I have to hit two buttons to get to crime.net now and the side jobs are on the main menu and impossible to reach from a lobby for anyone. The Steam Inventory button is front and center for some reason. Honestly, I feel like it's a step back. The one change I do like is putting the infamy menu in the profile page, just under the prefered character and mask buttons. It'll make it easier for people to remember to spend their dang infamies! I can't wait for the skill beta to go live. It'll be interesting to see what Overkill has and hasn't learned!

I installed the main menu open beta so you don't have to. Please do not laugh at how little cash I have. The Main Menu What happens when you click "Play". I HATE IT! Side Jobs live on the main menu now and are entirely inaccessible from a lobby. Even the host can't see them without dropping out. The One Good Change. The Infamy menu belongs here. edit: Who's bright idea was it to slap the version number 1.48.8 on that menu? I know stable is on 1.48.7 but maybe just skip to 1.48.9, Overkill. They can take their time implementing a big event now if they're already playing around with skill updates and basic quality of life fixes to RNG Dockyard poo poo. Knowing at least some of the good poo poo ahead of time is a great way to ensure the not reddit side of the community won't immediately hurl at the initial bad thing.

Its not the worst thing, they just likely need one decent community weapon that does explosive damage to make it not a gated skill or set of skills. Maybe make it like the China Puff and be a middle of the road weapon between a grenade launcher and the RPG. Like the M72 LAW from falling down. Does about 5000 damage but has a few more rockets.

isndl posted:Last time I suggested buffing Technician to become the explosion-man tree in this thread people were making GBS threads on the idea. I've personally never been a fan of the idea because I don't see a way to make it mesh with how everything's been doled out piecemeal via DLC. I don't feel adding a middle-of-the-road freebie boom gun is enough to justify it, either. In Payday 3, either as a new take on Tech or its own standalone class, sure, but I just don't think it'd ever work in 2. Though assuming they balanced things properly, I wonder how many of you folks would actually want to invest points into Tech to use explosives better. (...Though, the idea of Techforcer gaining even more synergy also sets off alarm bells in my head.)

Why wouldn't an entire new class of explosions work in 2 other than lol a 6th skill tree in Payday 2?
