I was at this race, first turn in the outside stands, best seats in the house to see the most overtaking. Been going since Cart started the circuit, then was bummed when that fizzled out out with Cart, then overjoyed when the IRL started it back up. Super lucky to have a race like this in my back yard! Preoptopus posted:thats a sweet course. Except that they used the airport, meaning there arnt many high rise residential buildings people could watch from. Which is kind of the point I think of having a street circuit. There's a bunch of high rises after the first turn. And most of the people in them bitch and moan every year when the race comes to town

Sleeve an LS block, open to 4.185, custom 3" stroke, Al or Ti rods, Ti valves, shaft rockers, solid roller cam, spin past 9k all day long. Probably make north of 700bhp. Sounds super easy, just custom everything.

One for the books: My friend's dad runs a little shadetree garage, and this guy goes to him all the time. They call him "The Professor" because he always wears baller tweed jackets and glasses, and he's only got one leg. This is his 24hr Endurance racer (not sure if he's doing LeMons or what). In addition, he's got a horrendously loud and fast Volvo 240 with bolt-on fender flares and a rad 80s GMC Van that they lifted and put mud tires on it.

Actually really common to see cars and RVs registered in MT, I think all you need is a PO box, and there's no sales tax, or vehicle testing or emissions. I know RV dealers will set it all up for you. Pay attention to RVs when you're driving, a lot will be "from montana." e- here you go: https://www.49dollarmontanaregisteredagent.com/montana-registration/exotic-car This place will register an LLC for you in MT so you can avoid taxes and fees.

I've been thinking a little (yeah, I do that sometimes) and I realized that I sort of have the same issue with Singer Cars as I do for the magazine/lifestyle brand/cooking magazine/upper crust white ppl stuff Kinfolk. Singer always uses air cooled Porsches, because those are much more authentic than anything you can get in right now. Everything is stylized perfectly. The workmanship is absolutely flawless. The paint and color coordination so heavenly. No one will ever bring a Singer into Chipotle and accidentally stain the supple passenger seat via spilled medium salsa that sort of escaped their burrito bowl. No, Singer owners are perfectly coiffed in the casual way, and might even put a longboard on top of their Porsche to head to Rincon Point from their tastefully Mid-Century Modern (probably inspired by Joseph L. Eichler (or an actual Eichler)) after kissing their 40+ year old wife (not a bimbo trophy, but a "natural beauty") who still at that age has got it totally going on. You will never see a flat brimmed cap in a Singer. You will never hear EDM pumping from the stereo. No Arab or Chinese exchange student will hoon up and down their college city's highway with one bought by their industrialist father. They are classy people who live enviable lives. The world of Singer cars is a class above plain horsepower wars or drag racing (poor people stuff who probably don't read books and watch reality tv), but has to have a "gentlemanly power" when the throttle is down. The suspension has to be firmer than the 40 year old rattly Porsche stuff. Not too firm though, we have to be able to take it to the dog park where we're going to socialize our Golden Retriever (haha the stains!). Brakes are of supercar proportion now. The paint and body work is miles above whatever they rolled out of Stuggart with (unless the further authenticity desired of weathered panels is requested). It will never leave you stranded or frustrated. Some of you might remember the King of the Hill episode where Bobby talks about the concept of wabi sabi and makes it a parody of itself via flower competition. Anyways the long of the short of it is that wabi sabi is basically the beauty of imperfection. That is to say, that nothing is perfect, nothing lasts, and nothing is complete. This can be extended to cars. Notice how people cling to garbage that fits their aesthetics (See almost all British cars, FD RX7s with rotaries still in them, almost anything Mitsubishi (lol), and so on and so forth, maybe you have one?). I guess it all stems from the fact that my problem with Singers because there's nothing to dislike about them, but there's something to be said about character.

Well when a dude has so much money he will literally die before he can spend it all, that's the sort of thing that's going to happen. You got nothing to do but build expensive collections. I'd like to say I'd be content with enough money to buy ~5 of my all time favorite cars, but I think we all know that's not how it works. Once you get enough money for something like that, you always want just a little bit more.

Let someone else worry about the care and maintenance piece, I just rent a classic or a muscle car for a day and cruise around without the concern for extra expense like special insurance coverage or having to buy/construct a building to store a collection.

That's an interesting choice for a modern day supercar. And it sounded sooooooo good
