Aftershock's greatest sin is that the truck doesn't show up in any other heist. I would love to be able to buy that into a heist and drive around a big move poo poo around car that allowed the back seat people sitting with the loot to shoot at cops following us.

You'd save yourself 10 points by going that route, and if you're really scrimping and saving, well... So this got me thinking. You can get most of the benefit of Ace Inspire for 18 points, and you can get basic Sneaky Bastard for 13 points, which is 25 points shaved off. Which, combined with the leftover points anyway, gets you enough for a 4th tree. I was thinking something like semi-Medic, semi-Commando, Silent Killer, and Shotguner with silenced Raven and Loco gets you to detection 4 aka max dodge. Or swap out Shotguner for Oppressor and take a Clarion and Krinkov for 7 detection risk (19 dodge rather than 20) or a CAR-4 will push you down to 3.

What is a good dodge grinder build? I am really enjoying Grinder, far more than Rogue - it allows me to treat HP as a renewable resource, and it means that if I'm good enough at shooting I will never die. I feel like dodge is the way to go though, but I'm not sure what skills I should be shooting for.

Sneaky Bastard is useful but not strictly necessary, Grinder healing is so powerful that you can do pretty much whatever you want in terms of skill selection. When I get home I can post the build I normally use, which is meant to be a default build good for participating on any heist.

I'm also very allergic to taking Inspire, since between dodge skills and Inspire, I don't have any room to do dumb nonsense. Anyway, I'd argue that this is the foundation of any dodge/grinder build. Obviously there is some room to tweak to your taste. You don't *need* to invest any points in FAKs if you're not going to bring them, and you save a handful of points climbing Fugitive if you drop them. But if no one else is bringing them, you should. Sixth Sense and Aced Run and Gun are my personal point-sinks for the lower half of Fugitive, but you could pick some other skills to invest in if you don't like those. You could drop Stun Resistance and Die Hard if you're really pushing for points for some gimmick, but it's inadvisable unless you really know what you're doing (hint: you're getting flashbanged for 30 seconds at a time, that's what you're doing). From there, it's just a matter of figuring out what you want to do. The Inspire-variant is covered in Wintermutant's post, but that's boring. Do something weird. Like silence of the shotguns. Or a CQB Falcon with silencer skills. Or run and gun. Why? Because you can.

(Mostly) Generic Mastermind/Fugitive build. Inspire Ace, Swan Song Ace, all your usual quality of life stuff and 17 points left over to customize as you see fit. Personally I grabbed Shotgun Impact/CQB and SMG Specialist to open up my weapon selection options further. There's also lots of room for juggling in the Mastermind tree, as I took Control Freak Ace and Spotter Ace to ensure that I can buy assets which I know a lot of other people don't bother with, and Cable Ties Ace for the odd stealth heist so I don't have to respec every time I run into one. A lot of people build towards Low Blow/Sneaky Bastard, such as LuciferMorningstar's example builds, but I find that it's a massive point sink that severely limits which weapons you can use. The benefits are negligible on Overkill anyways, though they can become significant on Deathwish where enemies hit harder.

Is it a thing that the ai can break and just not send waves of dudes after you? This under the mountain OK run is very light on badguys. They're walking into the hub room one at a time to turn off the hack. I'm standing next to a badguy door spawn as I type this.

Sometimes poo poo just breaks, but cop aggression is in a large part determined by the power of the host's PC. If you are in a lobby and the host is playing on a series of daisy-chained TI-89s you will not see many cops, even on deathwish.

They're walking into the hub room one at a time to turn off the hack. The most common source of that sort of problem is an end of assault wave issue- a shield or taser, somewhere in the map, is caught between tasks and is effectively holding the game in assault state while all other enemies retreat. In those cases, killing the offending enemy fixes the issue.

Anyone have some super-awesome strategy for the Reputation Beyond Reproach achievement? (Four man crew has to beat Election Day plan C on Deathwish without anyone being downed, cloaked, or cuffed.) It's the last achievement I need and I'm having trouble finding other players who are capable of doing it. I've tried random pubs, the Steam forums, befriending good people I encounter, etc. etc. I've found like one other person who doesn't need 15 tries to make it 10 minutes in without going down. I swear this would be easier if I could just do it by myself or with 1 other person. No one can seem to understand my pregame speech of, "There is cloaker after cloaker after cloaker in the vault area. In case you haven't noticed, cloakers are complete bullshit. I don't care how good you think you are or if you have the Counterstrike skill. Don't run around in the vault area for no reason. You will get cloaked." The one time it really looked like we were going to get it, I was hosting and my game crashed.

Best Maps: 1: Hotline Miami - It's fun, there's different things to do. Cook meth while you blow up a gas station and/or run barcodes through lovely soviet computers! Then race through the crumbling tenement chasing the rear end in a top hat to his vault! It's something besides robbing X location for the obvious reason to rob X location. The music is cool, the getaway car's a DeLorean instead of the overkill van, it's got a lot of little details to make it special. Even how you cook meth is different! 2: The Diamond - Again, I like it because it's got a lot more to it than waiting on drat drills and/or playing bag hauling simulator. The floor puzzle at the end, the gensec stickers to show which cases are alarmed and contain stealable poo poo, ACTUAL options for how to enter and do the mission in stealth, etc; it's got a lot going for it. Stealth or loud are both good and fun there. 3: Alesso - Yeah, a third heist pitched on "we actually do stuff besides wait on drills and haul bags." Also nice that it's stealth or loud. Worst Maps: 1: Car Shop - gently caress car shop. It'd be a boring piece of poo poo ECM rush *IF* the driving wasn't poo poo OR they gave you like 30 more seconds to do it. As is: gently caress Car Shop. It's annoying to even stealth up to the point it becomes ECM rushable, and even then hope one of the guys driving a car doesn't desync on the every-second-counts drive! Car Shop can go straight to hell and was legit the worst part of getting my difficulty masks. 2: Framing Frame - I've mentioned before, I don't even understand quite what the hell we're supposed to be doing in Framing Frame, or why Day 2 exists at all. The real crime here is that the Art Gallery heist that's just FF Day 1 as a standalone is actually fun and was in the running for one of the best maps. But between day 2's pointlessness, all the ways day 3 can just decide to gently caress you, and that there's a pro version of the heist? Framing Frame's a real piece of poo poo. 3: Four Stores - The gently caress even is this? We're super criminals who rob the federal reserve and steal nukes in Qaddafi's car. Yeah, sure, we'll smash up less than a block of a commercial district as part of penny ante protection scheme by a shithead Russian, no problem. Next we'll try some mail fraud, guys! I see it as pretty much a straight up worse Mall Crashers, which isn't exactly a standout itself.

So it makes sense for them to do some petty crime to get back in the groove/because Vlad is crazy? Basically. The launch heists, and basically everything before Big Bank, all had a pretty 'grounded' criminal atmosphere to them, especially the low level heists where you're just knocking over some small joint to make a quick buck and get your name out. Big Oil was out there with stealing a cold fusion engine, but it was also basically the capstone to the game's progression arc, so it made sense. Election Day was the beginning of things getting more unmoored from 'reality', but Big Bank and everything with the Dentist was really the point when heists started being more audacious and 'cinematic', until the point that we're fighting through the J. Edgar Hoover building after breaking out one of the FBI's Most Wanted and shooting up an arena while a concert is going on and running the pyrotechnics to cover up our explosives. For someone who started the game in the past year or so, all that penny ante bullshit seems out of place in the bombastic crime game of Payday 2, but at launch that seemed like the goal.

Insert name here posted:smdh if you don't love Framing Frame day 3 loud My problem with FF3 loud is that some power box placements are right next to cop spawns and if a cop decides to kick the power box, there's a good chance that nothing short of keeping the box permanently burning will stop them. So the hacking takes loving forever because you need to be constantly restarting the hack. Being able to just turtle in some corner would be even more boring but that map specifically seems vulnerable to desynched cops shutting down the power nonstop.
