Eh, Souls has always liked that sort of poo poo. Like, in DS2 the Duke of Tseldora was a loving awful crazy person who worked his subjects to death and unleashed a plague of spiders so he could get gems/Seathe's archives (I forget precisely which), but the boss is just his soul-gorged pet and then you find him and he's just some lovely hollow that makes you wonder why they put one weak-rear end enemy in this tiny zone.

Parry in pvp- there's nothing more satisfying than getting invaded, parrying the first hit and killing them in less than two seconds. Wrong neighborhood, pal.

Speaking of wrong neighborhood, there are apparently some really weak people doing the Dancer glitch. On my newest character I farmed a +9 Lothric Knight Greatsword from the Castle before heading down past the Undead Settlement, and I was still invaded by a watchdog almost immediately after setting foot in the swamp. As he was running towards me, I started charging up an R2 and then... he died in one hit.

The matchmaking should only put me against other people with a level range and upgrade around +9 right?

With the nerf to Great Chaos Fire Orb there is now no reason not to use Chaos Bed Vestige instead. Before Great Chaos Fire Orb had the advantages of having a farther reach, shorter cast time, and the extra damage from the lava pool meant that even though Chaos Bed Vestige still did more damage than it, it wasn't by much. With the nerf however, even though Great Chaos Fire Orb still has the range and the cast time, the damage from Chaos Bed Vestige should now outweigh Great Chaos Fire Orb's pros.

I've played every souls game, and Bloodborne, but this is the first one I've put more than ten hours into. I'm depressed that it's over, but the last few fights were pretty drat fun. I read back a couple pages, but am I missing out checking out on NG+? I'm almost at vordt, and it doesn't seem like much has changed to make it worthwhile. I think the most fun I had playing was cooping with a friend and dicking around with invaders while progressing through the game.

The real question is which one do I go back and play now?

I generally try to hit the button the instant I see the enemy's weapon-hand start to move towards me. Though I'm pretty sure that different weapons/shields do sometimes have different timings, so pick a shield or a dagger with a quick, simple animation to learn with.

In general, it's best to parry when an enemy's downswing frames begin (when they're about to swing their weapon forward) with small or medium shields, including the buckler/target shield (as they have startup frames like in DS2). For certain enemies like Lothric Knights, it's mostly prediction: I know that, 9 times out of 10, the sword Knights are going to do a forward stab once they get within dash range of me if they're sprinting, so I simply hit parry when I intuit that they're getting within that distance.

There are so many enemies in this game that attack faster than you can parry with a Medium Shield unless you start your parry before they start their attack, and if you get hit it deals a ton of damage which is why I said parrying is more punishing in this game than the previous games. If you use a parrying shield (Buckler, Target Shield) then you can mostly react to enemy attacks and parry them on reflex, but with a Medium Shield there are a lot of enemies that you simply can't parry without luck/prescience.

It's simply the nature of ambition within the cycle. Those who harbor self-delusions of dominion are left behind just the same as anyone. What was the first Lord of Cinder but the burnt out husk of a vainglorious liar? The Pontiff is no different, and I imagine he liked to work from the shadows to begin with. It wouldn't do to have it be common knowledge that he was behind so many dubious undertakings.

Actually, I've never been entirely clear on what caused the mass deaths of Lothric Knights in the bottom of the Highwall. It being a repelled Pontiff attack doesn't entirely make sense, since he was able to establish garrisons uphill and Dancer is at least kind of on board with the Lothric Patriarchette's plan to send you to your inevitable demise, but what else could it have been?

Edit: Also Addar, I like your interpretation.

Double edit: also, how did Aldrich get from the Settlement to Irithyll? Did the Abyss Watchers A) not go nuts yet and B) just stand by and let Team Pope escort an extremely omnivorous slimeblob through their turf? Was the geography in a different configuration at the time?

That's me

The first place to farm it would be just past the dragons. You start at the Dragon Barracks bonfire, and run past the dragons. There will be a huge locked gate behind them. Go through the side path to open this gate, then jump down and pull the Lothric Knight and run through the now open gate. The dragons will start breathing fire, so run to safety while they kill the Knight for you. Takes a long time, pretty costly.

The second place to farm it is past the first Knight (behind the gate), where you run past him and get the shortcut elevator to the Dancer bonfire. After that, you need to climb the ladder and run past the roof to open the door past the Sunlight Altar. Once you've done all of that, you can then:
- Start at the Dancer bonfire, go up the elevator
- Pull the Lothric Knight standing in front of the Sunlight Altar out to the plateau before the Dragonslayer Armour
- Run up the ladder around the corner

If all things worked out right, the Lothric Knight will have his sword buffed and for some bizzare reason this makes it so he can't climb ladders (:iiam:). You can now stand on the roof and pelt him with Firebombs until he dies while he keeps trying to climb the ladder (the best way to damage him other than parries, and it carries no risk). If you wear the Covetous Silver Serpent Ring he drops ~5500 souls so you more than recoup your losses on buying Firebombs.

If you got any questions, just ask. If you pick up the Chunks lying around on your way, you'll have a +9 Lothric Knight Greatsword before killing the second boss and the entire game is hilariously easy.

I did some testing with the fire attack from dragon head stone because I was bored and you can actually do more damage with it using the fire clutch ring (went like 184 to 215 on one of those man-grubs with my base 15/15 int/faith). I re-specced my int/faith to 12/40 and the damage went up to about 330 for every instance of fire breath damage. The cast animation on the dragon head is so long however you'll be stun-locked before you ever get it off though (someone used throwing knives and stopped me even with armor on!) :v:
