The pre-release build is phenomenal. The only thing I'm really not a fan of is the decision to show no info whatsoever on vehicles/weapons/etc. before they're purchased, which makes it impossible to spend money intelligently without consulting an external resource, which there will invariably be one of two days after release. It would make much more sense to show weapon mounts for vehicles, stat blocks for weapons and stats+portraits for pilots, with the bio/description/etc. being locked behind purchase, that way people can get the info in-game instead of having to go read a third party wiki.

gauss posted:Maybe I'm wrong early impression is that I think people would be interested in a Mongoose (and other very small units)-only campaign map set I would love this. Also, I found an oddity. The Pinch is labeled as a 13mm Gyrojet HE weapon, but it has 5 points in shield damage, fires very slowly and has a very large aoe, plus an EMP stun effect that lasts quite a while. Now maybe once the flavor text is added to the weapon it'll make more sense, but until I tried it myself I kind of assumed a 13mm Gyrojet HE weapon would fire faster but with less of a boom. Wrong descriptor? I was playing freelance and going "Well I want that sweet EMP cannon the Shortbus had paired with the Kraken in the campaign missions" so I'm looking at the names and going "uh Lockdown? That has EMP in the description, but it's a machinegun with shield damage but no stun" so I went back to the campaign and checked the name and found out it was the Pinch. In the campaign loadout description it's called a rocket launcher. As a weapon though, the Pinch is pretty loving amazing, since it stops targets and strips shields, so they're open for a nice sweep with the Otomo or some other AOE weapon. Or just agrav stomps. I love the unit design for Corvid tanks and agravs, by the way. They look real cool. Psykmoe fucked around with this message at 18:22 on Jun 1, 2016 |

I mean it might be OK to charge for them, but I don't think we're actually that well set up to handle splitting the player base between haves and have nots. As for the name, kinda depends what direction we go with it. we've already got gravtanks close to ready to go for a DLC, which are really like playing the best of tanks and agravs, but require even more skill (ideal for DLC). But I also like the idea of doing a short campaign all based around the lil'est units, Mongooses and the like, because people really seem to like the Mongoose.

The thread title should be changed. I almost didn't click on it because I assumed it's a weird racing game. If there are mechs, and the thread title doesn't mention mechs, that's like... it's like Brigador is an open bar at a friend's wedding, and they're just handing the good top-shelf poo poo out, but the invitation (thread title) only says "BYOB!" and while that's technically accurate, because if you want to bring your own drinks that's fine, it really undersells what's going on. Mechs in the title, animated gifs in the OP, please.

I actually wrote that drat thing two years ago over a case of beer with the help of my old college roommates (now lawyers). We had a blast writing it, but I was afraid after we spent a couple days getting the language just right that either no one would read it at all or if they did that they wouldn't get the humor. So it's tremendously gratifying that you guys are enjoying that, and I'll pass it along to my old buddies who helped right it. dhamster posted:I guess the real question is: are the Pantry Boy and Dave going to be in the release build? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MPnjH8a-W1U Brigador - Early Access Launch Trailer Watch the above if you just want to see what's up. Steam posted:Great Leader is dead. Solo Nobre must fall. The game is the forbidden love child of brothers Hugh and Jack Monahan, plus programmers Dale Kim and Harry Hsiao. Hugh made a game dev outfit called Stellar Jockeys based in Champaign, IL. You may also know Gausswerks' Jack as gauss. The game has just launched out of early access on Steam, and can be purchased for 29.99, which includes the full game plus the soundtrack composed by Makeup and Vanity Set and a friggin' audiobook of an official novelization written by Brad Buckmaster and voiced by Ryan Cooper! Wowza! The game and the extras are also being sold individually via itch.io, if that's not really your speed. It's basically the same thing, except the guys who run itch.io are super cool and you should support them. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BDdwoUzNPGg Giant Bomb Unfinished Brigador's gameplay inherits from titles like Desert Strike, Future Cop: LAPD, and Mechwarrior 3050. If that means nothing to you, the game is an isometric vehicle combat game where you take control of one of 46 playable vehicles, choose from a set of 40 weapons based on your equipment slots and rampage across 40+ maps including a campaign and fully customizable freelance contracts. Solo Novo is a gritty dystopian colony planet that has up until now been ruled by the charismatic Great Leader with an iron fist. The Solo Nobre Concern, its former masters and a long standing galaxy-spanning mega corporation, wants their planet back and anybody who can sign the contract can cash in. Standing in your way are three unique factions of enemies with unique enemy types, bosses, and weapon styles who are all very happy to punch a hole through your cockpit and leave only your blood smeared across the pavement. Vehicles you pilot have varying characteristics and unique abilities, ranging from bipedal mechs who can deliver powerful stomps to unfortunate passersby, to bulldozing tanks and nimble anti-gravs that can fly over short obstacles and pancake enemies underneath them. Weapons come in many distinct and wonderful flavors: shred foes with more conventional munitions such as cannons, mortars, rockets, and machine guns, or channel your sci-fi magic and field railguns and lasers. When you're done liberating the planet in the campaign, the Freelance mode of the game allows you to completely customize your loadout and how many districts you assault. The SNC pays good cash for any and all targets of opportunity, which you can use to unlock new pilots, weapons, vehicles, and missions to play with in future sessions... provided you can escape the planet with your ill-gotten gains. The game is a pseudo-roguelike-like-ish in that death in a run is final and will only earn you a pittance compared to what successfully completing a contract will reward. Considering the huge range in pilots (who act as global difficulty settings) and vehicles (some of which are easy to master, others less so) and playlists, there is a mix of risk vs. reward for every skill level. Every map is lovingly hand-crafted by artisan cartographers who only use organic pixels. There's 21 unique freelance maps alone, each packing an absurd amount of detail and made gorgeous by the game's fully in-house engine with pseudo-3D lighting effects. Plus, bonus forums in-jokes. Oh, and the game fully supports making custom maps using Tiled, a free map making program. The plan is to finalize the learning resources and make things pretty in the near future so that anyone can make their own socialist utopia. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ajbfIRZApI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-gec527sk8 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qmmnHoBAlk

Found Ghost mission with the Party Van Took quite a few tries. With the other 3 vehicles you can just the mission (or at least use camo smartly) but man the Van with acoustic-kinetic pulse ain't made for it and the terrain ain't made for the van.
