I'm kind of excited for Hilldawg. Not totally amped like I was for Obama in 08 but I voted for her over Bernie because I think she'll be better at the job than he would be. Basically what I'm looking for is someone who will not suffer republican fools and I think she'll be starting out pretty close to the zero-fucks-to-give level Obama finally reached after too many wasted years. Also someone to appoint liberal judges.

I would at least be positive of Hillary if the positions she took from Bernie were not compromised. She's not fighting for $15 minimum, she's looking to create a sliding scale where cities pay $15 and surrounding areas pay less. She'll think about making medical marijuana legal, but won't repeal prohibition entirely. Even if congress won't let her, it's important to set a strong tone so that if you had to negotiate, you won't be caught in an even weaker position. Obama did that with the PPACA, starting from a compromised position thinking it would just be accepted, but it was not and ended up even weaker than he wanted. There's absolutely no reason for her to compromise on anything fiscally liberal, but she's still doing it and it's just baffling.

The bigger the stomping she gives to Trump, the more hard rear end she can be against the GOP from the get go. I hope she has some sort of "The American people have made their voice heard, and they have rejected your party." line in her acceptance speech.

It's just a different flavor. I've found the old cliche to be broadly true - in the South it's "I don't care how close they get as long as they don't get too high," and in the North it's "I don't care how high they get as long as they don't get too close."

How Leaving America Changes What People Think About Gunsquote:There are few examples that ring truer than America's obsession with guns. While the US leads the world in mass shootings, with 372 in 2015 alone, there has only been one mass shooting in Switzerland in the last 15 years. The Swiss rank fourth in the world in guns per capita—behind the US, Yemen, and Syria—but the ownership is rooted in a sense of safety and responsibility.

I don't know what's so special about $15 besides that it's divisible by 5 and humans like numbers divisible by 5. I think probably a better policy would be to index it to CoL/FPL numbers and have it move based on relative economic performance but I'll leave that up to economists.

I seem to recall $15 being chosen as the inflation-adjusted equivalent to what minimum wage used to be at some earlier time when everyone agreed it was fairer, then fudged into a nice round number. But I could be talking out of my rear end.
