We came across some of those magical legalists protesting outside of the Reichstag. They had put up a banner in four languages, explaining that the 4th Reich is still active because of some law that was never repealed and the communist/fascist/capitalist/globalist alliance was ready to unite all of Germany (which doesn't actually exist, in legal terms) under an iron fist. My wife kept trying to parse the banner, trying to make sense of it. She thought you had to have a point to protest, that your claims had to have some basis in reality. I had to explain to her about the "freemen of the land" and all that crap, tell her they were crazy and they were not protesting anything real. I think she got caught up in the legal terms, legal language usually makes sense, right?

And oh man, you guys are in for a treat if you delve into the esoteric scene in Germany. There is so much absolutely insane poo poo that people genuinely believe and that is pretty widespread. Like, go to any supermarket right now and search for organic products, I guarantee you will easily find some that have crossed-out bar codes. You know what's better than conspiracy theorist naturalists? Conspiracy theorist naturalists who worship the old germanic gods and think Germany needs to go back to that nice völkische stuff they had in the thirties. Also Hitler wasn't a bad guy, have some more Dinkelaufstrich. I had a family of those for neighbors a long time ago, poo poo went bad fast when they tried to form a boy scout troop and it turned out to be nothing but ancient germanic and völkische indoctrination to prepare them for the race war.

Yeah, the separation between "weird esoteric person obsessed with ancient germanic druids and poo poo" and "actually just a nazi who likes dnd a lot" is pretty flimsy at best. Another fun game to play: Go to one of those book shops that specialize in eso poo poo, grab random books from the shelf and search for anti-semitic stuff. In my experience, it won't take very long.

I made it to Beweis 15 and it's the same three arguments ad nauseam. - "If earth round, why not fall of? " They straight out deny Newtonian gravity and assume that the earth is suspended in some homogeneous gravitational field, that runs through the entire universe. Pretty lazy - "If earth round, why rail, river, road, canal, etc. build straight?" I guess this is just ignorance of slopes/calculus? It's weird that they can't grasp the concept of a slope, I think a lot of these people have some form of learning disability. - "Why horizon look straight, if earth round?" I guess this is just ignorance of how large the earth is? Pretty lazy, you can look that poo poo up in 5 sec. All in all it's a pretty lazy conspiracy theory, 2 out of 10, would not look up again

That, but it's mostly part of a general trend. It's not just political parties, it's churches, choirs, fire fighters, even football clubs have to close shop due to no new players joining which would have been totally unthinkable 20-30 years ago. People don't see the need to be a part of larger social groups anymore I guess, partially because modern technology has opened up easy (and in some ways arguably better) alternatives, but also because of a general trend towards individualism that has been going on for a loooong time now. e: and yet our political system is still entirely geared towards Bonner Republik-style parties doing everything, so I guess it wouldn't be the worst move to join a political party as a young person right now if you want a relatively easy way to power and influence, because the old geezers there will in many cases be super glad to have you as their Aushängeschild System Metternich fucked around with this message at 09:31 on Jul 12, 2016 |

The problem is one of scale. Too many people in too cramped environments in an ever complex world having to accommodate an increasing number of -often competing and incompatible- outlooks. There have been overcrowding experiments done with rats in the past and they seem to have a lot similarities to what we see today. http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1644264/pdf/procrsmed00338-0007.pdf John B. Calhoun posted:The results obtained in this study should be obtained when customary causes of mortality become markedly reduced in any species of mammal whose members form social groups. Reduction of bodily death (i.e. 'the second death') culminates in survival of an excessive number of individuals that have developed the potentiality for occupying the social roles characteristic of the species. Within a few generations all such roles in all physical space available to the species are filled. At this time, the continuing high survival of many individuals to sexual and behavioural maturity culminates in the presence of many young adults capable of involvement in appropriate species-specific activities. However, there are few opportunities for fulfilling these potentialities. In seeking such fulfilment they compete for social role occupancy with the older established members of the community. This competition is so severe that it simultaneously leads to the nearly total breakdown of all normal behaviour by both the contestors and the established adults of both sexes. Normal social organization (i.e. 'the establishment') breaks down, it 'dies'. quote:Professor Mellanby said Dr Calhoun had suggested that by 1984 man was going to be as crowded as his mice and that this would have disastrous effects. Experiments had been going on for a long time with man. Man was not uniformly distributed. He lived in some communities just as crowded as Dr Calhoun's mice. Professor Mellanby had been very familiar with populations in parts of London forty years ago which were restricted communities. People seldom moved out of them. Until the children were taken to camps for holidays they had seldom been more than a quarter of a mile from their homes. They were living amidst extreme crowding and bred very successfully. Therefore, was it not possible to get an answer to this for human beings by examining such communities? Did crowded, enclosed communities behave like the mice? Or did this occur most obviously in those communities which had about the lowest population density in Sweden or the United States?
