Oh right nevermind.

The NES controller design has been OK to copy legally for a while now, just so long as you don't put the Nintendo logo on it.Patents expired and the other stuff isn't covered by other forms of IP protection anymore either.

I dunno, maybe they'll be great, it's certainly not as idiotic as lot of other kickstarters, but I'm a bit skeptical.

Surely you can never cut out 100% of sound with an in-ear object anyway, isn't a certain amount of vibration transmitted through the skull and jaw if it's loud enough?

E: Lmao, their Noah-themed reskin of Wolfenstein was apparently greenlit on Steam and has mostly positive reviews.

Super Noah's Ark 3D was released on the SNES in 1994 (unsanctioned by Nintendo)

the Steam version is a port, dude.

Wisdom Tree is an ancient company that made tons of lovely Christian games for NES and SNES. I can't believe they're still around. Somebody just probably bought the rights and is trying to squeeze money from them.

If Nintendo cared enough they could totally sue them for copying the NES controller design though, that's way too similar to be legal.

Hm, I would think the color and art layout of the controller would still have copyright, but IANAL.

Nintendo doesn't really care though.

Uh why's that so hard to believe? They've been constantly re-releasing the same dozen or so Color Dreams and Wisdom Tree proper games for years, they're not being squeezed or anything.

For instance back in 2010 they had their NES games on their website in a Java-based NES emulator. And as early as 2005 they had licensed the rights to some other company to sell 7 of their Wisdom Tree NES games on one of those plug-and-play systems that had an NES-on-a-chip.

trust me, I'm a cat.

The joined forces with Piko Interactive, company that is manufacturing new NES/SNES/MD carts, with both homebrew games and previously unreleased ones. They (Piko_ even got their hands on Tyrannosaurus Tex, the first-person shooter slated for release on GameBoy Color, and are going to clean the code and finish the game. Hopefully this will end better than their Steam releases of obscure SNES games.

I dunno, that just seems insane to me. Like, how did they keep selling Noah's Ark 3D in the PS1 / PS2 / PS3 era?

Did they make some proper full-3D Christian games I've never heard about too? Or just Java emulators?

licencing the rights to their games is all I expected them to be capable of.

It's the only unlicensed SNES cart, so it's a collector's item. Same for all of their releases. They should go and look into their archives to check if they have anything from the time they were developing a Hellraiser FPS game on the NES.

Dude, never underestimate the kind of things people who buy "christian rock" and so on are willing to put up with as long as your product says JESUS and BIBLE a couple times.

Here's a good overview of what they were offering before they recently redesigned their site, I think some of these were made by other Christian software companies and just published by them, because Wisdom Tree already had ins with various nationwide Christian stores: https://web.archive.org/web/20120323140727/http://www.wisdomtreegames.com/games.html

Well, the Steam version is just the DOS version, actually. Something of note is that the DOS version has the map that the PC version of Wolfenstein 3D didn't get.
