But in between that time I used the scrapall command to rebuild my vault and in the workshop there was a Vault-Tec Prototypes item that the scrapall command had placed in there. Ever since I picked it up I can't build the prototype versions of the experiments. I can build the regular ones just fine, but they're found in the resources menu, not the special one. I don't have a save from before I used scrapall, so I guess I'm locked out of the rest of the quests.

I think the only vault assets you can't build outside of the Vault is the vault ROOMS, everything else like the furniture, statues, and experimental machines are a-ok. Half a mind to put in casino machines in every settlement (set to Indentured Servant) just to see how long it takes to make cash off them.

I am currently specialized into Charisma and this is my first playthrough where I'm running out of caps. The main reason is probably choice of weapons. Both me and Curie using automatic .45 weapons. On top of that since it's survival I can't just pick up every single unit of ammo and every weapon I find. I'm spending all my caps on ammo, fertilizer and shipments of steel to make more ammo.

While we're talking about 88, I just got there myself today, and when I stepped out to pick up some heavy weapons to deal with the Mirelurk Queen in the back, I got a "Vault 88 is under attack" alert. No big deal as these things go, I get back, take out the spoiler, and there's some Super Mutants dicking around (the actual "attack"). I take them out, but the alert doesn't go away. I try stepping outside again to see if it resets the enemy locations or something, and it gives me the failed message. Usually not a big deal, right? Just repair whatever got broke and move on? Well, if you fail that, they break the Water Treatment system in the back by the first spoiler, which you can't repair. In the list for "repair with" it's just blank. So until I find a way to make the last enemies appear so I can clear the alert, I can't leave the goddamn vault. Suggestions? e: I've tried using the "complete all objectives" console command to make the mission go away, but it still triggers the fail status if you leave the area. hexwren fucked around with this message at 08:25 on Jul 27, 2016 |

twistedmentat posted:Is it under its own thing? I found the Overseer desk under special with the robot workbenches. There's a symbol that pops up on the top right of the construction categories, it'll be a vault door for vault stuff, a deathclaw head for wasteland workshop, mechanist's head for automatron stuff, a plus sign for several dlc options, etc. If that's not showing you might have mod issues. From what I remember: special - for prototypes and the overseer's desk structures -> vault - for vault rooms, hallways, etc. The actual vault environment structures -> doors - for the Vault 13 classic vault door furniture -> most furniture options have a cleaner vault furniture counterpart, misc has drinkable water fountains and sinks, and the pommel horse (seriously everyone build and use this) and weight bench, both of which give a different SPECIAL boost decorations -> floor coverings - for rubber mats decorations -> wall decorations -> signs for a bunch of new signs, and a single clean eat-o-tronic under misc decorations -> vault - vaultboy and vaultgirl statues, computers and vents and poo poo sticking out of the wall, etc. decorations -> misc - has a clean jukebox, coffee maker and a couple other bits and pieces power -> generators - vault tec reactor and super reactor power - there's some new power conduits, some new ceiling and wall lights, and the vault-tec population management system under misc for finding lost companions and assigning idiot new settlers to get a loving job defense -> guard posts - there's a security desk, one of those pre-war prefab military green barricades, and the control room that you use to open vault 111 resources -> vault - has the four different machines you can turn into vault-tec torture/testing devices or just turn into happiness generators, and they'll also give you a different SPECIAL boost resources -> misc - has the barber chair and surgery chair, so you don't have to go far to get a new haircut/face That's pretty much it for new stuff, all of the above can obviously be used anywhere in Vault 88 and apparently I'm an idiot and jumped the gun to yell at Bethesda earlier, you can build the Vault structures, guardposts and generators outside of Vault 88 once you've done the prototype questline for Vault 88. Seems they only limit you to furniture and decoration if you've not done that quest. OK Goons, I need some help... I am attempting to create a multistory building. I have created the first floor using the concrete walls and floors, I am now attempting to put on the ceiling on the first floor but the tiles keep snapping onto the edges of the walls, the problem that this is causing is that I get overlap on the side of the building parallel to where I start placing the ceiling. Any suggestions/help would be appreciated. I am playing on the PS4 so I don't have access to mods.

You may have to use the vertical beam here and there to extend a wall or such.

Lima posted:Concrete is a bit tricky to get to line up. You may have to use the vertical beam here and there to extend a wall or such. Yeah, I had to use walls, half-walls and verticals to get a clean build. Example: place your first wall - this will be an end wall. On each end of the wall, place one of the vertical "beams". At a 90 degree angle to the first wall, slap a wall section onto each of the verts, making a "U" shape. Extend the arms of the "U" using the half-width wall sections. Add verts to the ends, and place the final full-width wall on the end to enclose it all. lovely diagram that may or may not properly illustrate: code:
What I need are multiple-part "tiles" that register as a single item - I ate a whole lot of buildables flooring and walling the initial (trainyard) area in Vault 88 already, and I didn't even build high walls, much less a second level or anything. I need 4x4 or 6x6 floor section tiles, and 2-4x walls and poo poo. I used warehouse walls to block off the entrances to everywhere but the Vault door and the water-pump room, and there's laser turrets to discourage Wonder if I can recruit Brahmin too, and recreate the barroom scene from Blazing Saddles?

Am I the only one who thinks the cave with all the junk all over looks nicer than a vault anyhow? Given how fiddly the workshop parts are and the poor Vault-Tec lighting, and the way the cave looks more "lived in" like that. Maybe I'll just slap some standalone room pieces around much like the boxcars are for "private huts", keep some concrete walls blocking the tunnels (enemies can come up from there, not sure if it's only if you unblock the secret exits or not), and call it a day without scrapping all the trains and cranes and whatnot - it gives the place character that often people spend a lot of time building out of nothing in other settlements. Or at least try to build around it all (the heck with an atrium for now), and have areas with balconies to the outside cave built with more typical scrap building supplies like the wood.

Ever since I installed the new DLC I have run into a very annoying bug. I am now permanently invisible. Haven't used a stealth boy or chameleon armor, and I'm pretty sure it isn't even giving me an actual bonus to sneak. Invisible in first person or third person? Invisible in first person was fixed by going into third person and back again when I had that bug, which is a long time ago (around release).

After some experimenting and going through the crafting menus, I'm thinking its the refurbished furniture mod that it causing the vault structures from showing up. That mod basically adds the same stuff as the DLC does. Though I am worried that one gives bunk beds, because they're way too useful.

Note: you have to remove the old water for new water to appear. Also, are you aware that looting a weapon from a dead body also gives you ammo? What you do is, you pick up all the weapons from dead bodies, and then drop them all periodically. You'll be getting way more ammo that way. Also, you can just pick up every unit of ammo you find (other than missiles and fusion cores). Ammo is not that heavy, and you can pick it up and then sell what you don't need. Also, having you and your companion both using automatic weapons with the same ammo is not wise. Give Curie a different weapon. I wonder if Vault 88 has a higher population cap than other settlements. I mean, it's so goddamn BIG, I need people for it all! EASILY worth the five bucks. Five bucks is horse armor in other games.

At a certain distance from the player the engine ignores collision detection for NPCs. They're probably just walking through the walls, then getting stuck as you get closer.
