One can hope.

In the short term I expect the Republican held House to try to block everything Clinton puts forward as hard as they have with Obama since 2010.

My biggest fear is the Freedom Caucus actually driving the car over the cliff and defaulting the US Debt.

It's worth remembering that a narrow Republican majority gives the Freedom Caucus a considerable amount of power thanks to the Hastert Rule and the inevitable RINO hunting that will commence in spring 2018, so this ironically becomes more likely the better Hillary does in downticket races (barring an actual Democratic majority)

The Hastert Rule really isn't a rule and both Speaker Boehner ignored it when they needed to get something passed. Ryan will have to also and the Tortilla Coast will eat him alive.

Unfortunately the racist love of murdering black people and the gun-nut love of having any excuse whatsoever to shoot someone and get away with it are a formidable tag-team.

The Second Amendment is the only one that really matters in this country. Nothing says "Land of the free, home of the brave" than defending the fantasy of shooting anything that moves the second you get skittish. Especially on people darker than balsa wood.

let's examine the chain of events just going by his testimony

- Sinister black people are doing evil activities near his house, possibly things like "talking to each-other" and also "existing"
- Heroic Patriot armed with his Freedom Stick tells 911 "“We’ve got a bunch of hoodlums out here racing, I am locked and loaded. I’m going outside to secure my neighborhood.”
- American Hero shoots unarmed black person completely unprompted
- Someone in the house is like "what the gently caress" and calls 911
- Having defended his freedom, the man bravely speaks to 911: "“We have a lot of people outside our house, yelling and shouting profanities,”. For what reason could these dark sorcerers be angry at a man who just walked out of his house and murdered one of their friends without cause?
- He heroically fires another shot blindly and misses, because freedom needs glasses.
- Having enforced his rights, he bravely reports to the emergency operator who asks for identification. "“Ma’am, I don’t know who they are,” the man said. “There’s frigging black males outside my frigging house with firearms. Please send PD.”

seriously even just going by his own words he looks like a complete racist lunatic

So.... is there really a "warning shot required by law" in N.C.?

I don't know NC law specifically, but I would assume no, they're generally not even legal because you could end up hitting some random bystander on accident.

I dunno, but according to his own words it seems like he murdered a dude THEN fired a "warning shot" when the victim's friends got pissed at him.

I mean of course he's going to get away scot-free, but even taking this at like the most surface-level possible and believing his words implicitly he's super guilty.

karthun raise's a good point.

I see them throwing a shitfest over Ryan "surrendering" to Clinton's "agenda" and attempting to dislodge him from the Speakership if he begins to pass bills with mostly Democratic votes.

What? No. not if it disproportionately reduced the chance of a successive shots actually injuring / killing people. (Not saying this is the case. I have no clue)

Given that he already murdered one person for being black in his presence, I think that the idea of "warning shot" is a moot point entirely.

It's because she had the audacity to gasp in surprise and concern when the news came over the radio that one of the helicopters had crashed during the landing at the compound with possible troop casualties (which there ultimately weren't, but they didn't know that at the time).

At this point most of them don't even watch fox anymore. They get poo poo from Rush, Drudge, and Breitbart. All opinions are based around Hillary Bad, and you rationalize from there.

I'm waiting to see how they're going to take a Trump loss. We're in California and they are convinced he is going to win the state.

:negative:

Khizr Khan's speech was about his son, the hero, and how Donald Trump would keep real heroes like him from entering the country just because they don't believe in the right God. It's about how fundamentally unAmerican Trump's anti-Muslim policies are, and how sad it is that Trump thinks this country is for venal self-enriching draft dodgers like himself, but not a Muslim soldier that died protecting his fellow soldiers. That's a good story and easy to grasp. There's no arguing over the facts, it's a disagreement over values.

Mama Vilerat's speech doesn't have any larger point. It's about Hilary Clinton being mean to her and killing her son. Either you believe Hillary Clinton did something wrong or you don't, but no minds are being changed at this point and it's just more Benghazi background noise. It's an argument over facts, not values. She's just another in a string of people calling Hilary Clinton an evil liar. There's nothing to talk about there. It's been talked to death.

It's sad that your family thinks these are equivalent, like every parent talking about their dead child is interchangeable, and the children themselves, and their stories, don't actually matter.

Unlike with police these kinds of idiots that think "stand your ground" is a license to kill anyone as long as you say you were scared don't get off every time. I think what really helped out Zimmerman was that he was connected to the legal system and the local PD which resulted in them not even charging him originally. Also that juror who compromised the jury with misinformation and what they could do because she and her husband wanted to write a book. If he was a regular dumbass that shot a black kid the chances of him getting off would have been much lower.
