While I agree about the misogynist and belligerent parts, Ailes is possibly the most experienced debate prepper on the Republican side. He's done the job for both Nixon and Reagan, famously giving the whole "I won't hold my opponent's youth against him" line to Reagan.

So I wouldn't call him unprepared.

How big of a swing is it to lose debates? Has anyone lost them all and still won the presidency?

I honestly never bothered watching them until 2004. Would Trump crushing them make up for his double digit disadvantage in the polls?

I fully expect Hillary to crush him, I'm just curious of how important they really are.

This is a super broad question. Defining "winning" and "losing" a debate has a lot of other contextual factors, most of which revolve around the running narratives of the campaigns and how the candidates are perceived.

If Trump and Hillary show up and Donald does his usual schtick where he talks about how great he is, how scary the world is, and doesn't really get into any substance, no one will think much of it. If Hillary goes in and does her usual thing of rattling off policy while being kinda awkward but exhuding some competence over the issues, no one will think much of it. It will reinforce the views of the candidates as brash/incompetent vs awkward/competent, and not much will change. If this happened with a different set of candidates, the media narrative would be dominated by shifted expectations and new narratives, which might hurt or help them.

If Trump does well in the sense that he gets a few good zingers in and gets Hillary flustered, it might help his competence problem, or could make him look too aggressive, depending on exactly how it fits into a 5 second soundbite/article headline, and how well it's spun. Hillary could also try to stagger him with a few zingers, but risks losing her image as the more professional of the two.

Barring something really wacky like one of them collapsing, admitting something damaging, or saying something super offensive, there's not a whole lot that can really go on in debates. Especially Hillary, whose positions have been largely consistent and well known. Trump has more wiggle room to announce some big policy change or promise, and is also playing defense given his position in the polls, so it'll be interesting to see what exactly he tries to do at the debates. Will he stick with the usual and keep on the course he's on? Try something wacky and different? Try being aggressive and attack Hillary personally? Who knows! But I bet Hillary will be ready for anything.

Given everything he's done up to now, I would hardly put it past Trump to do exactly what Romney did in the first debate and lie about every single thing in his platform to make people think he's actually serious.

Lol yeah it's a little suburb of Philly mainly known for its gigantic mall.

The name comes from a Colonial-era inn, the "King of Prussia Inn," which was a popular waypoint for travelers heading West. I guess the Inn was named for Frederic the Great.

Barring some serious poo poo going down at the debates, though, one thing is certain: both sides' supporters are going to claim that their candidate won regardless of what Trump and Clinton actually end up saying. I have little doubt that the day after the debate, we'll see thousands of instances of two 20-second videos with titles like "Hillary DESTROYS Trump's wall plan in five words" and "Trump SMACKS DOWN Hillary's lies about the wall", where both videos are actually the same clip.

What if Trump won't accept defeat

What if Trump won't accept defeat posted:

“I can’t see the fever swamp, alt-reality media universe on the right learning the lessons of this,” Sykes said. “Can you see Sean Hannity and Laura Ingraham saying, ‘OK, sorry, we screwed up’?”

And many worry that the newly consummated Trump-Breitbart partnership will endure, perhaps in another form—and that both men will be eager to exact revenge.

“What I worry about is that they’re looking past November at forming a different party—that they’ve used the GOP as a vehicle to build this following and that then they just go and build something new,” said Katie Packer, Mitt Romney’s deputy campaign manager in 2012 and the leader of an anti-Trump super PAC.

“That’s damaging because some of these people who like Trump should be Republicans. My hope is that if he loses big, anyone who’s not a racist nationalist says ‘Never again’ and the racist nationalists just retreat to their basements where they belong. But my fear is that Bannon and Trump uniting could be about them looking to do something long-term that would ensure this fringe element remains.”
