It'll be a year before they get around to releasing the remaining unreprinted issues at this rate. A little birdy says that they wanted to have MM integrated over a year ago but it clearly did not go as planned.

It is weird that Bunn's the only writer mentioned.

Not quite the Scott Snyder type guy to revolve a bunch of big ol' artists around, ala All-Star Batman.

Would it have been part of Age of Ultron or Hickman's Avengers/Secret Wars? I'm wondering if Hyperion replaced an intended Miracleman on the roster.

Hyperion does feel weird in there, but I just figured he was a pet character of Hickman that he wanted to have a more mainstream role.

It only seems off to me because why not use one of the other Hyperions already running around the Marvel universe? And the obvious answers are that Hickman's story wanted an incursion refugee there, and the other Hyperions all have some baggage.

But even factoring with that, if you told me that it was originally planned as Miracleman in that roll, it'd make a whole lot of sense to me.

Weren't all the previous incarnations of Hyperion villains? It seems to me it would just be easier to grab an alternate u good guy version at that point.

Tbh I'd rather just see the miracleman u that already exists get more issues. I was reading the reprints marvel did last year (?) and just the stories about the people living in that place were cool, so was the art. Plus wasn't he kind of an rear end in a top hat dictator by the end? I guess they could've made him a bad guy or something, but it would be weird to bring him in as a hero.

That is the plan, Gaiman and Buckingham are going to complete their run at some point in the near future. I don't remember how much Neil said he had planned but I think he said the original book would run to #36?

Well the last issue of the reissue series reprinted the original #19 so there's 5 finished issues ready to go as well as #25 that was written, penciled and inked 20 years ago. Buckingham said he was ready to tear into the series when Fables ended and that was over a year ago. Something is clearly up since the reprints have gone on hiatus.

Hmmm my completely baseless guess would be that they're holding off on putting out the rest of what they got till Gaiman actually sits down to start writing the last issues.

When this whole Marvel having Miracleman thing started he said he still had his scripts and notes from back in the day so it shouldn't take much. I'm thinking something else is going on.

Ms. Marvel #10 is completely amazing -- basically flawless -- when dealing with the non-CWII parts but just turns weird and hamfisted when dealing with the CWII plot. Two of the people in charge of Carol's little operation are literally punching each other out in the streets but then Carol's just like "Eh look guys, this just really needs to work okay. [shrugs, flies away]"

Is it just me or has there been literally no narrative, thematic support for Carol's side outside of her own book?

'Innocent Until Proven Guilty' is the legal tenet that people who know absolutely nothing else about law or justice can cite, and Carol's entire stance spits in the entire face of that. Especially with the reveal that Ulysses' prophecies are probability based and not actual future sight.

Not to mention that the response here is to immediately lock the 'future criminals' up before they do anything instead of, I dunno, talking to them and trying to convince them not to go through with whatever they want to do.

Even Captain Marvel isn't really supporting her so much as Gage is showing the character development that means she HAS to commit to this path. The person who came off best in the last issue was T'Challa.

Oh poo poo, is that the point of the briefcase thing? (Again, I'm skipping the main event book. Secret Wars was the last one I need to bother with for a lonnnng while) In which case Bendis just put out a big neon sign saying "IRON MAN IS RIGHT" because it's no more reliable than Reed Richards or Tony himself doing math.

It's just strange 'cuz, during the last event, they at least had a couple books every month with the token pretense of depicting pro-registration in a better light through its pro-reg characters -- even if that better light was McCarthyism -- and everything I read here is just flat-out "Predictive justice might seem good...TO IDIOTS! Behold how creepy and problematic it actually is!"

Maybe I've just been reading books with better characters this time around. :smug:

Yeah, I've actually read quite a bit of the tie-ins and every one that isn't Captain Marvel makes me detest her as a character more and more. It's really a remarkable bit of character assassination, I can't fathom how anyone at Marvel thought she would come off well in this.

It is kinda weird that (it feels like) marvel has been building up Carol as like the superheroine of the mu and they decided to just throw all that away. I wonder what brought them to the decision to use her of all people.

So back when there was a brouhaha over Steve Rogers being a HYDRA Nazi sleeper agent because of cosmic cube shenanigans, I made a comment about how the comic writers shouldn't have done such and such because of the outrage it engendered.
