KS scammers will often back a whole bunch of projects that have no chance of meeting their goal just so their membership page shows "Backed 120 projects" to make themselves look more legit. I remember a project we talked about a while back where a dodgy KSer had made tit-for-tat pledges on other project so that the people running those projects would also throw in a buck on his project, then he cancelled all his pledges and walked away with their money.
