That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even anime may die

Nationals is as good a time as ever to see this list off. It has served me well for just over a year now, but it is well and truly a blast from the past, as you said.

As for B-Wings, any fix for them is probably going to have to come in the box with something else, since they've already had their own Aces pack.

The game is in a precarious state at the moment where I can imagine it's very difficult to balance. If you add elements to the game that reduce the number or modifiability of red dice, you risk leaving Imperial Aces in a position where they're unkillable, the same goes in the opposite direction - interfering too much with green dice makes large attacks too powerful.

B-Wings are stuck in the middle where their attacks (which used to be powerful) are now fairly average and unable to penetrate past an Imperial Ace with Palpatine, and they only throw one green die of their own, so they melt to high-damage attacks or to Crack Shot.

Make a B-wing specific upgrade called Gyroscopic Cockpit and give them access to an evade token?

I've run an Omega squadron list before, with OL and OA taking up about half the list points. OL with a comm relay and juke, OA with only PtL. Watching them tag-team a TLT Y-wing and outright cripple it in one round after they both caught it at range 1 was definitely something, alright :stare: OL scored 3 hits, stripping the shields then OA force-fed 3 crits and left it limping off with 1 hull and a critical effect. Solid performance, would FO again.

Generic ships' unmodified green dice are weak in general(this is why the lothal rebel is used).

That's this game's central flaw ATM. Or, well, more appropriately the attacks are so good right now(zuckuss, chips, etc.). Ordnance being good results in retarded alpha strike lists and I said that before guidance chips. Ordnance is not well thought out in this game.

Zuckuss didn't strike me as particularly amazing when it first appeared, but now I'm not sure it shouldn't have been at least two points rather than one.

It's a shame because small ship generics are often my favorites. But I've still got the Prototype A-Wing!

Next tournament I should take G1-As and Kihraxzes and see how far I get.

Neither ship that uses zuckuss would care if he was 2 points or even 3 points. Zuckuss isn't even the worst offender anyway.

You can win with jousting lists so long as you outplay your opponents or catch a lot of people unprepared for that level of turn-to-turn firepower. I could probably win a local with 4BZ if things went my way.

I ended up 2-4 at the end of the day, which was a bit disappointing, but pretty much expected since I was using such an old list. Still had a great day and managed to claw at least 50 MOV from every match I lost.

Sure was.

In retrospect, I should have taken my Zuckuss, UBoat, Feedback Zs list if I wanted something easy, fun and more current. Four ship Rebels is dead against nearly every top-tier meta list due to the insane damage-creep the game is experiencing at the moment. I never felt like I was flying that poorly, aside from a few situations in hindsight, but taking a withering amount of 4+ die attacks from things like VCXs and eating damage through defence from Crack Shot melted my list so fast it wasn't funny.

MVP of the day goes to my Prototype Pilot A-Wing for killing three TIE Fighters and surviving the game against the TIE Crack Swarm.

If I might ask, what is the list for feedback zs, uboat and zuckuss? I like to play scum but have been getting worked by agile aces

The Feedbacks ruin Aces, it has great blocking potential and Zuckuss at PS9 with barrel roll from the title and a healthy initiative bid stands a good chance of catching Soontir if you fly smart.

This list has a hard counter in things like IG88s and isn't the best against Jumpmasters.

Lost my top 16 match but what a way to go out. I'd say it's my favourite game of xwing I've ever played. Super close and tense the whole time with lots of really hard judgement calls.

I lost, but took out his palp shuttle and had the inquisitor down to 1 and ryad down to 2 or 3 hull. I just couldn't get the shots on either ship to finish them off.

I don't remember the whole thing, it blurs together a bit because I was just entirely focused on the game. As soon as the last dice was rolled I suddenly realised the whole room was full of people watching the game. I had such tunnel vision that I hadn't noticed. I'm not sure how much of the game Endman saw but he was there for some of it so he might be able to fill in some gaps.

Looks like the winner list was x7 Vessery and x7 Ryad with a Palp shuttle.

That was really interesting to watch, because the defenders often ended up having the same target in both arcs for focus fire, but because they weren't next to each other they forced the other guy to split fire.
That's a magical thing that is hard to pull off without white and green K turns

So I decided to run a Scum list of Dengar and Cobra, both upgraded fully (like a rebel list with a large ship + an ace). Dengar with his counterattack and Cobra throwing 5 dice at range 1 killed a B-wing and Tycho in one round :stare:

Dengar and Cobra (98)

Dengar (57) - JumpMaster 5000
Deadeye (1), Extra Munitions (2), Proton Torpedoes (4), Recon Specialist (3), Unhinged Astromech (1), Inertial Dampeners (1), Punishing One (12), Guidance Chips (0)

Talonbane Cobra (41) - Kihraxz
Predator (3), Concussion Missiles (4), Glitterstim (2), Shield Upgrade (4)

Space-meth Glitterstim was the key to Cobra's success, popping it right before rolling 4 focuses was a hilariously lucky move. This was my first few games with a Jumpmaster, they seem to have lived up to the rumors of how good I had heard they are.

I doubt it. You'd do more damage in the initial joust, sure, but 3 Y-Wings just aren't that durable, so your overall damage output would fall off a lot more quickly. I also have my doubts about Targeting Astros on Y-Wings, since it's so hard for them to shed stress. And there's also the fact that you're running with PS2 Gold Squadron pilots, who are going to shoot last in almost every encounter (Making it that much more difficult to outmaneuver someone).

I love Y-Wings, but even I can see that list would just not do well against the vast majority of opponents.

I took this to Curio the week after NOVA, and came out of it store champion. Now, I present this list with the caveat that I didn't go up against Jumpmasters or Palp Aces, but on the whole it seemed to perform pretty well-Dutch and Esege have great synergy, and K-Wings are surprisingly maneuverable with their ability to hit the gas and SLAM out of a bad spot. Plus, the lowest PS you fire at is 4, so there's less chance of suffering from a debilitating alpha strike before you can fire yourself.

I bought the two core sets, and the plan is to get an interceptor, Falcon, and the two ace sets to have enough diversity to last a while as we gradually make it more complicated. Thing is the Imperial side is going to be four TIEs and three interceptors, which sounds like its a bit one note compared to the rebel options. Do the expansions have enough pilot and other options to keep things interesting for a while?

Yeah definitely. The other Imperial small ship I'd recommend is the TIE Advanced, because it comes with Darth Vader. You can proxy the critical upgrades that he really needs too (the TIE/x1 title and Advanced Targeting Computer). The Phantom is really fun too, because it throws a lot of dice and has some really fun decision space with cloaking/decloaking.

When you feel like shaking it up the Imperial large ships are really fun too (Slave 1 and VT-49 Decimator), and both of those ships show up frequently in competitive play.
