My friend suggested they might do pairs of one MCM guy and one Roadkill guy as a vs thing. I can see that working.

Not really. they were stable at high speed. they also have low rear end floors and air suspension. iirc it was a 455/th425 trans. which btw, the th425 is a th400 with a huge god damnned chain

Yeah, I run 20/50 in Phoenix but I think routing the diesel heater exhaust onto the second oil cooler for cold weather preheat was a good idea. Maybe one of those magnetic block heaters if I ever move back up north.

I used to run 20/50 in my big block Chrysler's back in the 80's (cars from the late 60's or early 70's). Actually sort of surprised you run them in yours, is it what was actually spec'ed for those old engines?

No, it's what holds pressure after a highway run at 115F on the bus. The beetle isn't as clapped out, so I run literally whatever in it.

CharlesM posted:Is there any reason that'd be a disadvantage in this application? Beyond the usual nonsense people complain about FWD not really, probably didn't even have torque steer with the whole Toronado setup. I think it was done mainly for packaging. Was more just an interesting fact as I wasn't sure people were aware.

CharlesM posted:Is there any reason that'd be a disadvantage in this application? You'll miss the apex and push wide at the track. Also, 2 rear axles like that will naturally resist turning, so where in snow/ice a 2 axle FWD vehicle is point and shoot with the front end dictating where you go, a loss of traction in one of those beasts means it's going dead straight, especially if you have any sort of weight in the back. trying to turn around on an icy parking lot means you have to feel out which way the wheels are pointing, and you're more making suggestions than giving direction.
