When she appears in the sonic shower (yeah, I went years thinking it was a pointless disco cabinet) Kirk presses a button and the raincoat, presumably a dressing gown type thing, just appears on her. Now... what exactly was the deal there? Is there technology in starfleet to dress you? So, at least you can't blame V'ger for that. As for the heels... yeah... I dunno. Why she had to appear naked in the shower in the first place is kind of odd. V'ger has absorbed so many people and ships, but didn't get that clothes were a thing? And that people don't routinely hang out in showers?

Given Roddenberry, I would guess he wanted her to be adamically nude but couldn't think of a way to sell the studio on it, so just put her in the sexiest clothes he could think of.

One of my students was talking about Trek before class the other day. I tipped my hand a bit to say that I also enjoy a bit o' the ol' Trek. I said that I'm working on ENT now and he told me, "don't waste your time." But then he thought about it and said, "well, It's alright I guess. Also I don't care about how white the cast of a show was. What makes a show "white" is who's watching it. If only white people (or a massively disproportionate amount) are watching a thing there must be something more deeply "white" about the show than just its cast.
