They are not gonna suddenly slot in some generic centrist who will win the election magically if that's what you're asking. If they severed with Trump that would probably make them look better in the mid- and long-range futures, but would also guarantee they don't have any power for the next election cycle or two because you know the deplorables would immediately riot.
