No, it's misdirection. They'd prefer you think of the issue as being of "bad words" not the intent, and certainly not the history of the intent. This guy has been non-stop tweeting for 10 hours minimising this and trying to maximise the wikileaks "leak". The base will happily jump on it, because the truth is too hard to take.

He certainly believes, but he's also flat out PR.

Yep this is why anyone who follows PEC will likely see Clinton's win % go up by a point every 4-5 days until election day when it sits at 99% (I don't think it will ever say 100% just by definition). At this point every day that goes by makes Trump's job harder. Today multiplied that by a lot.

For the first time, I feel genuinely certain he won't win. He's not prepping for debate 2. His campaign is in full meltdown with scandals from every direction. He's completely lost his competitiveness in the polls. Every avenue he had to turn things around he's closed because he's incompetent and stupid and awful. It's just a question of how bad he loses, and how many Republican senate seats he takes down with him.

At "best" (for Trump), women he assaulted. There's that whole deal with Ivana, so it wouldn't shock me.

At worst... oh gods. It could get really bad if there's something absolutely horrendous in there. And the worst (best) part is if they put Pence in charge, I'm sure the Clinton camp has plans for that. This campaign, more than any, is huge on image. Hillary took a literal tumble in her image on 9/11.

But that didn’t stop a flood of harsh criticism from his own party including some lawmakers such as Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) who said Trump should drop out of the race and Republicans should move forward with emergency procedures to find a new nominee.

Do these people - I've seen a number of Republicans tonight express the same sentiment - not realize that you don't get to change the nominee after absentee balloting has started and his name is already on all of the ballots?

There's no loving way he goes to the third one, right? He's going to get clowned on this Sunday, and NOBODY will believe that he can win anymore, not even himself. He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. It's going to look hilarious if he bothers to show up for the third one after everything that's happened, so he might just want to stay home and save whatever scraps of dignity he has left.

I'm so happy that I keep randomly giggling, this has been such a great day

What excuse does he have to skip it though? If he's still running, he has to show or look even worse. Looking like a complete coward is the last thing he could probably do to reduce what little base he has left looking to vote for him.

Also, in order to be able to call the results of the election a fraud, he has to at least pretend he is still viable.

Yeah, they've been stuck with Trump since September 1st apparently, and my guess is instead of doing it then, they saw Clinton slipping and figured they could ride it out.

The GOP has been failing to take their chances to pull out from the Southern Strategy for the past 6 years because it worked one last time in 2010.
