Kaine is fine for a whitebread Democrat who's fluent in Spanish and is competent enough, but he's not that charismatic and not that great a speaker or debater. Biden had the lovable goof thing going for him but is also a really charismatic guy which Kaine isn't really, stepdad persona notwithstanding.
